Default Price Drop on Axxis Pads

Starting today, StopTech is lowering it's price on ALL Axxis brake pads: Ultimate, Metal Master, and Deluxe Plus.

2002 Subaru WRX, 1998-2001 2.5RS, 1998-2002 Forester, 1997-99 Legacy GT, LS, LTD, LSi:
(check here to make sure you have the right pads):
StopTech Part Number: 63-223-0721
Front Axxis Ultimates: $45.95
StopTech Part Number: 63-203-0721
Front Axxis BGX (Metal Master): $35.95
StopTech Part Number: 63-213-0721
Front Axxis Deluxe Plus: $31.95

2002 Subaru WRX, 2003-04 Baja, 1998-2003 Forester, 1999-2002 2.5RS, 2000-04 Legacy, 2000-04 Outback:
(check here to make sure you have the right pads):
StopTech Part Number: 63-223-0770
Rear Axxis Ultimates: $33.95
StopTech Part Number: 63-203-0770
Rear Axxis BGX (Metal Master): $28.95
StopTech Part Number: 63-213-0770
Rear Axxis Deluxe Plus: $24.95

I realize that the Deluxe Plus doesn't get much respect on these boards, but they are massively popular amongst the owners of newer BMWs due to the fact that they are an upgrade in terms of average friction value over the stock pads, while reducing the dreaded brake dust to an absolute minimum.

Here is a semi-objective comparison between the three Axxis compounds:

Hi-Temp Fade Resistance:
Ultimate: 10
MM: 7
D+: 8

Operating Friction Level:
Ultimate: 9
MM: 7
D+: 8

Rotor Life:
Ultimate: 5
MM: 7
D+: 8

Pad Life:
Ultimate: 6
MM: 9
D+: 8

Anti-Dust Capability:
Ultimate: 5
MM: 8
D+: 8

Noise Abatement:
Ultimate: 6
MM: 8
D+: 9

You can either place orders through our website or by calling us at 310-325-4799.

Thanks,
Tim Kelsch

Tim,

do you guys have coated SS lines for the Gc8?
do you have rear H6 applications?

i need new pads for a 2001RS. i was swayed against the ultimates because of the stories i heard about dusting. how much better are these deluxes? say compared to oem.

thanks for your time

Yes, we do have SS lines for the 2001 2.5RS. They are $72 for the front and $70 for the rear lines.

We also have slotted H6 rear rotors. They are $88 per rotor.

The Ultimates do dust, but some people really seem to blow the problem out of proportion. I've used them for years, I beat the life out of my WRX, and sure my wheels get dusty, but that's just a tradeoff for the performance the pads offer.

Anyhow, the Deluxe Plus are great pads for someone who wants a step up in performance from the OE pads without much dust at all. The D+ dust MUCH less than the Ultimates.

Do you have COATED SS lines? i live in canada and its highly recommended i use them.

i assume you have no way to get caliper brackets to convert a gc8 to WRX fronts and H6 rears....

can you put together a package for me with the deluxes and wrx fronts + h6 slotted backs + fluid

thanks!

Yes, all StopTech SS brake lines have a clear polymeric coating on them to resist abrasion.

The sides of my car get coated in dust after a week or so if I don't wash it. That's a lot of dust.

That honestly shocks me. Do you have any pictures that indicate the severity of this dust coating? Are you overheating the Ultimates? You seem to be knowledgable enough to know that the Ultimates aren't track pads (not trying to be facesious).

Thanks,

curious...

according to your comparison the Deluxe pads outperforms the MM in pretty much every category, except pad life.... or am I reading it wrong?

So why get the MM when you can get the D+ cheaper? What would be the advantage?
thanks

I ask myself that very same question every time someone buys those pads.

I think the reason is that they've been popular with certain people for a long time, and those people still buy them, so they still sell them. They appear to be changing the name now, and I'm not sure how great of an idea that is considering that according to my theory the only reason people are still buying them is the name. I dunno.

No pics sorry, they don't really do it anymore since they are pretty much toast. It just street driving but I do drive exceptionally hard. It's not like the sides were black, but it was noticable and you could see it coming off when you washed it. Of course I have a white car so that probably doesn't help. My front wheels were definitely like 5 shades darker too (gold rims at the time).

The wheels I would expect to turn black, but the side of the car definitely surprises me. Can you rule out the possibility of the debris on the side of the car being road grime or normal dirt being kicked up by the tires?

I had the same issue when I had the Axxis Ultimates (I have your BBK). I can say with about a 99.9% degree of accuracy that the black water coming off of my car when washing was brake dust because I would rinse it every couple of days where it was sunny and dry outside. When I had the pads, I would rinse my rims and the side of my car because of the brake dust. Like JC, I also have a White WRX so it was more noticeable. The pads did work really well as far as stopping goes - no question about that - but the dust was getting a bit inconvenient for me to wash off every few days since I do 95% daily street driving. Just my $.02...

Well, I think we can all agree that the moral of this thread is to never buy a white car.

Perhaps the reason I never noticed it was because my first wagon was midnight black pearl and my second one is seal gray metallic.

Pretty cool how I was able to turn my own vendor thread into a testamonial of why you shouldn't buy my product, huh? Talk about sales skills...

Sorry about that Tim

Didn't mean to come off as if I were bashing the Ultimates. IMO they are great pads. Unfortunately during my personal experience with them, they dusted a bit too much for my tastes.

In anycase, you guys are top-notch over there at Stoptech and I wouldn't ever hesitate to buy products from y'all again (may even buy Axxis MM or DP+ after my current ones are gone). Speaking of which, when does the rear BBK come out? Any info on price, pics, and etc...?

Don't worry about it, I knew Uncle Scotty would find this thread and make his opinion known and your thread wasn't even bad anyways. It's better that people know what they're buying, and I believe your opinion is well within what a rational person would think about the Ultimates.

As far as the rear BBK goes, I will be making an announcement on that in the coming days.

Why you gotta be like that? I tried to buy a black RS but they didn't make them. Bringing up sad memories.

Sorry to mess up your thread. Like Hank I wasn't unhappy with the pads, I just don't want to deal with all that dust.

How much for a set of Ultamites for a 2002 2.5 RS?

I know that Calipers and brackets up front of the 02 RS are different then the rest.

Thanks

Axxis pads are not yet available for the front of the 2.5RS in the US, but the rear of the 2002-2004 2.5RS still uses the older style rear caliper so we do have Ultimates for the rear of your car and the price is $33.95. For the front I would recommend the StopTech Street Performance which is a Carbon Kevlar compound with a ceramic shim between the friction material and the backing plate to help reduce heat transfer into the caliper and brake fluid. Price for the fronts is $99.

RSarte, you have PM.

Thanks,

$99? eek. That is a bit too pricey for me.

I'll just wait till I can do the wrx brake conversion and then I'll get the Ultamites

Thanks
