Default Top Scoob 014... My God, It's Full of Beer !! (Polls Now Open for the Final Round !!)

We've been waiting for the chance to give the newest members to the Impreza family a round of their own and it's FINALLY the time.

Top Scoob 014, My God, It's Full of Beer !!, is for 2008 and newer Imprezas, including Outback Sports and STIs.

Quote:
It’s easy to enter your car, all you need is a Subaru, a camera, a place to host pictures, and the ability to type a coherent sentence or two…

The requirements, as in you MUST HAVE the following to be considered.

  • No more than TEN pictures (that's the forum max) of your car can be posted in your entry thread, whatever you feel best shows off your hard work and imagination. Once the voting begins you are free to add more pictures. Bump away but try to think quality, not quantity.
  • A written description of your ride, the more detailed the better. We’re talking about more than just a mod list, we want you to share the story behind your Scoob. Tell us why and how you bought it, what inspires you to modify it, and what all you’ve done to it and why. Most important is to tell us what you do with your car...race, show, cruise, polish with a diaper, whatever.
Think of it as your own magazine feature, the better you sell your car to the masses the better the chances of your Subaru becoming a Top Scoob.

  • You're more then welcome to start a campaign thread in your Regional Forum however the General, Off Topic, and Gallery forums are off limits to vote generating threads. If you already have a thread about your car in the Gallery feel free to bump away.

  • Trash talking is not welcome in this contest. If you need to tear down another competitor in an effort to build yourself up please do not bother to enter.

How it works
  • This is a contest, open to all Nasioc members that own a Subaru.
  • You must be the current owner of the car, no third party entries allowed.
  • Entries must be submitted to a specified Top Scoob thread stickied at the top of the Member's Gallery. The number of cars allowed is limited to a maximum of 25. Any themes or restrictions on entries will be clearly described before the contest begins. For example: GC Only, or Wagons Only, or 100% Bugeye Free, you'll get the idea.

  • If you have an idea for a theme or feel like we're missing a part of the community, post them up here!

Voting and Eliminations
  • There are three rounds of voting, each lasting 10 to 15 days.
  • After the First Round the cars placing in the bottom eleven positions will be knocked out.

  • After the Second Round the cars placing in the bottom eleven positions will again be knocked out.

  • The final three cars will go head to head to head in a final poll to select who has the Top Scoob.

  • *based on our maximum entry of 25 cars. Knockout cut offs and the number of first and second round threads will be adjusted at the start of the contest depending on the total number of entries.

  • Votes are automatically reset to zero at the start of each round.

  • In case of a tied vote for the last transfer spot in the first two rounds, the entrants involved will compete in a 24-hour Run Off vote.

If there is a tied vote for first place in the final round, a 72-hour Run Off vote will decide the winner.

DiscoWagon's '08 GRB STI

My car featured on t3h_Clap's Wheel33tist Blog:

DiscoWagon's Little Track Animal

This is my 8th Subaru. I got into Subarus because all my roommates had WRXs and my highly modded Audi A4 1.8T could not compete, I was sold the first time I drove a WRX. I owe my life to Subaru, my very first Subaru was a '93 Impreza L wagon that I bought for $900 with plans on swapping it. I rolled it on a road rally and came out unscathed. Not only has Subaru saved my life, but has introduced me to the best of friends that I now have. I am so thankful for the friendly Subaru community and all my close friends that I have met because of Subaru.

My previous Subaru was an '08 Legacy GT Spec.B, but when Subaru introduced the $7k off 0% off deal, I couldn't resist. At the time I had my Legacy, I was tracking my MazdaSpeed Miata but decided to buy the STI and condense my cars into one car that does it all. I bought my STI in November 08 and have since tracked it about 10 times. This is a true daily driver and my weekend track toy. It has been to Buttonwillow, Willow Springs, Streets of Willow and Auto Club Speedway. I plan on taking it to Infineon this summer with NASA.

All of the parts on this car have been carefully selected in comparison to the past where I would find just the best deals. I owe a lot to my sponsors, Ferdie at South Coast Subaru who has guided me the whole way through the build of this car and also my tuners both Paul Yim and Paul Leung of YimiSport Tuning in Santa Clarita, CA. They have been nothing but supportive and have encouraged me to be competitive in Time Attack races.

Keep an eye out for my car which will be in an upcoming Subaru brochure!

Thanks for looking!!!

Ah, it's good to be back. So, i've had this car for a few months now. Many of ya'll may remember a couple of my past Subarus, (a silver 02 WRX and a black/kevlar carboned 04 STi), after those, I sold out and bought a Lexus IS350, then missed the Suby and ended up with a S2000 instead. While the Honda has been a blast (I still have it too), I couldn't hold out any longer and came back.

Just a few things done to the STI, ...I still drive the truck daily, (sold the Lexus for an Avalanche). I picked up the car in early February, couldn't pass up on that 0% deal. Besides just wanting another Subay again, I wanted a car I could still drive wherever, whenever and still put my 4yo daughter in the back seat, take her to school in, etc... I'm also done with the S, and what better platform than another STI to get back in. Anyway, I did want to keep the modifications simple, ...at least for now. Anyone can go out and drop $10k and do it all at once. I wanted to try and go about it a bit differently; I wanted to show how keeping it simple and using modifications that flow with the car can really add a lot, ...for a little.

As far as future plans for the car, ...well those of you that know me will know. The car will most likely not be seeing any track days or auto-x's, but instead will once again serve as a advertising tool for the business as well as just be another fun project to keep my hobby going. I will likely be attending the local shows upon building up the car to a fun, streetable, show piece of what my iteration of an 08 STI can be.

Anyway, ...simple, sweet and to the point.

Mod List

Engine:
- Cobb AP
- Cobb DP
- Greddy SE cat back exhaust
- STI short throw
- SPT oil cap
- SPT battery tie down
- Carbing Craft carbon fiber alternator cover

Suspension:
- H&R Sport Springs
- Perrin front strut bar

Wheels/Tires:
- Enkei GTC01 19x9.5+42
- BF Goodrich KDW 265/30/19
- Rays Duralumin extended lugs

Exterior:
- Chargespeed/Bottomline carbon fiber lip kit
- OEM sport grill
- Tinted tails
- Perrin shorty antenna
- Mach V billet bumper trim
- window tint

Interior:
- STI duracon shift knob
- SPT boost gauge
- OEM Nav w/ XM sat option
- Homelink mirror

Future Mods:
- i'm still searching for the GRB Recaro seats
- full custom audio (stock really sucks)
- tighten up the suspension (coilovers, sways, braces, etc...)
- eventually, I will succumb to the inevitable and follow suit with something very powerful.

I'm sure i'm missing a few things, i'll keep updating.

I gotta say, It sure does feel good to drive a Subaru again!

Thanks for getting me to the Final Round, ...I must say, I'm pretty surprised against the competition.

I think this just goes to show, ...keeping a project simple & clean can go a long way.

Thanks again for all your support Nasioc!!

Greg (would put banana here, but I used up 10 image tags)

yes, we have snow half of the year.

I can barely make it through my street without scraping on the stock suspension, so makes no sense to lower it so I can just get stuck in the snow.
