JDM EJ205 Swapped RS - Deadbolt Super16g - 317/277
My first post in the PP bragging forum. Im not much of a bragger, but eh. After some personal debating on whether to buy this stuff and make these upgrades, here are the results:
317hp/277ft.lb @ 17psi! Mod list: JDM WRX 2.0 (2003 JDM EJ205) ECUTek Reflash Deadbolt Zilla Series Super16g Perrin Turbo Inlet Hose APS Up-Pipe Invidia cat-less APS turbo-back exhaust APS BOV ACT SB2-HDOO Clutch ACT 600185 - StreetLite - XACT Flywheel WRX crossmember Cusco 22mm front and rear swaybars APS cold air intake STi intercooler JDM WRX ECU JDM WRX Harness Walbro Fuel Pump WRX blue modded stockers-800cc STi Engine Mounts STi Transmission Mount STi Engine Pitch Mount ECUTek Computer Hookup Cobb Short shifter + STi short linkage + Cobb bushings Here are some pics and video from the dyno day (sorry for the bad lighting, I just could not adjust the white balance and I didn’t want to be one of those guys filming!): This is the uncorrected sheet. I do not have the file of the final run. But this is basically what was the final run. And I didnt feel like scanning the actual printout. Previous mods: Garrett GT28RS (disco potato) @ 19psi Pinks APS catted downpipe New mods: Deadbolt Zilla series Super16g @ 17psi Modded wrx blues ~810cc Invidia cat-less dp As you can see in the comparison chart, it now makes much more power down low and holds steady all the way up. It’s just breathing much better and its running 2lbs less! So much more efficient. Car was tuned by Andy @ Verocious motorsports down in Wilmington, DE. I had major driveability issues after the final tune. Here, the BOV was stuck open! Talk about your car hating you during that event. I think I can ride any bull after those bucking sessions! But he fixed that up and bam, smooth as silk. This thing used to idle rough and drive the same but now it is silky smooth and the power is very linear. Boost builds quick and feels awesome all the way to redline. This is my daily driver. It has treated me very well and now it is just a blast to drive. There is much more power to be had out of that turbo, no doubt about it, but it is damn reliable and very safe. No need to turn the boost up, at least not yet! Track time: I want to get it to the track this summer. But I am on the stock 2.5 tranny and its already talking to me. And its not happy! So I baby this thing when shifting and don’t drive it hard. Looking to upgrade to an older VIII STi tranny possibly. I used to own an 02 wrx that had full TXS turbo back and profec b that made 217awhp. This thing is much lighter, better gearing, feels a ton faster and is making 100hp more. I went 14.0 in the rex with a crappy 2.0 60’. So I would hope for mid to low 13’s in this. We’ll see! Comments welcome, thanks.

You should be in the 12's with over 300whp + the car is lighter than a standard USDM WRX and you have a JDM ej205 which comes (250hp from factory). I ran 13.6 at 100 with a 1.995 60' in my stage 2 wrx at 16 psi. Nice.

You could also try the STi RA gear set for the RS tranny as an alternative. However, the 6mt is pretty sweet. Nice setup by the way.

Thanks for the comments!
I would go RA's but by the time you get everything, crack the tranny and all that, its expensive. An older STi tranny can be had complete for under $1500. Its a long way from that, at least for now. Yeah its a fun daily driver. Unfortunatly, I think my stock radiator went! Ugh, cars! |

By the way I am thinking about parting my car out, if you want to upgrade to some STi driveline goodies. |

Is your intake calibrated correctly? Why the dip in AFRs?

Great numbers! I think Super16G is the best choice in TD05 series as daily drive car. I'm running 19 psi of boost daily mode and 22 psi with plus meth/toluene in race mode and stock internals. I believe 19-22psi is the most of efficient area for that turbo on a 2.0 lt.
I cant feed the tmic with fresh air so not dynoed my car yet. |

555 - I think its a 3rd gear pull. Not 100% positive though
Mikie - not sure. I honestly am clueless when it comes to AFR's. Thats one area of my car and tuning that I am clueless about. I know he said my MAF is basically maxed out. So that could be the prob? Steve - what kinda goodies?! |

Unless that's the lowest reading dyno on earth, you shouldn't have a maxxed out MAF. I have a 20g on an ej207 that made 375 whp and I still had headroom. What I'm referring to is the 10:1 region on your chart. It just looks a bit odd- almost like you have a leak or an incorrectly calibrated intake. That might explain why your tuner thought you MAF was maxxed out. |

yeah i am kind of clueless as well. like you said and ive read many others who have well over 350hp dont have a big MAF? I thought that was kind of weird. dont you think he would have picked up on that though? I didnt want to ask him like I knew more than he did so I just kind of though oh well? Anbody else have any ideas?

tuning
Hey man nice car!!! I have a few questions for you. I have a jdm ej205 swapped into my 98 rs, mods are:
3 inch tbe, Spt intake, Grimspeed ebcs Sti 550 pinks Sti tmic Vf39 turbo Perrin inlet pipe Jdm v8 Sti ecu Act stage 2 clutch rated at 400hp Act lightweight flywheel Group n Sti motor mounts I was wondering if you could give me some info as to how your car was tuned. My ej205 has a 9:1 compression ratio, so I was wondering what your timing map looks like, what afr's are you running and etc, I was told I can't run more than 15 psi on the higher compression motor. So I was wondering what kind of timing allows you to run 17psi. |

I know you have the engine harness/ecu, but is the car wired for AVCS? That's locked HP just waiting for you.
