Question ECU's

I am looking to get more power out of my frakenstien motor. what I would like to do is replace my current 1993 1.8L ECU for a 1991 legacy 2.2L ECU. has anyone done this before or can it even be done? I know the plugs from the 1.8 harness are probaly different from the 2.2 harness but is there anyway I can get around this, like wire the 2.2 plugs onto the 1.8 harness,
Mike

Why do you think the 2.2 ECU is going to give you any more power?

Personally I wouldn't spend the time swapping connectors over for questionable performance gains...or losses.

Youll need the 2.2 intake manifold/TB and all connectors/sensors and the wiring harness and a few other odds and ends IIRC.

itd be more worth it and more beneficial if your doing future mods to get an S-AFC or Emanage or something along those lines to tune your car a bit than swapping over all the parts for a minimal gain if any.

The EM can control more things, fuel, ignition, vtec control if so equipped. You can also hook up a pc to the unit and have even more control over the fuel curve. The S-AFC is a self contained unit and has a limit on the fuel manipulation, that i believe is lower than the EM. Personally if you can get the wiring done correctly I would go with the EM. The EM looks like a mini amp too

well, as a performance upgrade, I think the EJ22 manifold has bigger ports and allows for a better overall flow.

The manifold doesn't have bigger ports, the heads have larger valves. So unless you swap the heads, you're not going to gain anything.

Id reccomend the Emanage if you have the extra dough to spend. S-AFC I would do if I got the hookup on it, like if my friend was selling it for cheap and it came as a good deal. I would install it, see how it suited my needs and go from there. But if your starting cold, you might as well go ahead and drop the extra money on something that will be even more useful later.

i looked myself, as ai42's 1.8T conversion got me started here.

the emanage is found here along with other optional parts(prices):
http://www.greddy.com/prod_e_manage.htm

I personally would prefer the emanage over the safc, but the emanage is a bit more than i can afford right now. that, and the safc was priced right.

Actually,
The Ej22e heads AND manifold have 1/8" larger ports than the Ej18 parts do. I have measured them myself...

I see. I think (took it) though that he just wanted to swap the manifold...which wouldn't really work.
