Cool. I'd really stay out of boost until then. Really don't want to freak you out, but it's obvious you're pulling a decent amount of timing in multiple places there. Just be careful |

It is a road log plotted with a smoothing of one. That's actually pretty smooth. You absolutely can't tell if there's an issue by looking at this plot. You need to see the log. If the log is fine then you just need to increase the smoothing to 4 or 6 or so to see the curves. Virtual Dyno is great but it worries me that people misinterpret them so badly.

I can remember my first WRX back in 2002. I was running a stage 3 M2 kit with VF23 turbo. I was testing a grey market ProDrive ECU and my car went into overboost during test runs. My defi boost gauge recorded a 22psi spike and it blew my turbo inlet hose off ripping it in the process. Pretty scary situation, but the 2.0 liter motor took the hit and kept on running. The newer 2.5's don't tolerate that kind of overboost condition well though and the ringlands are know to be weak. My Syclone is the same way...pretty weak sauce compared to other turbo motors. I noted the OP's post 116 where he mentioned overboosting with the new TMIC. As concerned owners we all hope the issue is not the ringlands, but with these engines I think it only takes one instance of overboost and you are looking at a rebuild.
Brendan, I have really enjoyed the various changes your car has gone through in this post and as an owner of a 2011 WRX you have provided me with a great reference of how some of the different wing and tire/wheel set-ups look. Great looking car with a nice stance. Good luck with the leak-down test and keep us posted on the outcome. |
