What I find amusing about this is after the news her stock (MSO) shot to a 52 week high and the highest it's been since mid '02

"Down goes Frasier"

People bid up MSO $3 then it got halted! Some people are going to take a bath when it reopens.

Yanno, I tried to care about this when it happened. But really, at the end of the day, I don't care at all. I just want them to toss the Enron effers in with her too.

Ahhh, her lawyers will appeal, and appeal, and appeal again, and eventually they'll find a loophole, prove that one of the jurors was biased because she couldn't get her window treatments to look right or something.

$250,000 of martha money isnt even in the same ballpark as the Enron scandal where millions upon millions were bilked and people lost their entire fortunes and retirements.

I am not a fan orf martha but I for one hope she does not go to jail over this.

This is more about the advancement of the prosecuters career than justice-

I'm not sure about that. The SEC takes insider trading very seriously. There is a case of the SEC prosecuting a Kinkos employee when he made a trade based upon information he copied for a customer.

God help anyone who gets in their way when they're trying to make their case, which is what they accused, and convicted, Martha of doing.

That being said, the Enron guys need to go to Federal pound them in the ass prison. Martha is not on the same level, IMO.

Stewart was found guilty of conspiracy, making false statements and obstruction of justice.

The judge threw out the securities fraud charges or I bet the jury probably would have got her on that, too. It sounds like they didn't buy her story at all.

Which, when you compare it to the grand scheme of things, is really just a technicallity. Just like Capone, they didn't get her on the actual crime charges....they just found something else to get her on.

Heh, isn't that cute?

Seriously, maybe she did something wrong here, but it's far from clear (well, since she's convicted I guess in the eyes of the law it is but...)

Unlike Enron, where it's doubtless that there were criminal acts.

Guess Martha should've been pals with Cheney too, she could've walked away with billions instead of getting nailed for like $50K.
