Cheap 255/35R18 tires?
Im looking for some new tires in the 255/35R18 size. Strictly street only driving. I have Direzza Z1 Star Specs now and it feels like a complete waste running them how I am.
Im looking for something pretty cheap..

what's 'cheap'? cheap to you is not the same as cheap to someone else.

federal ss595 - $117 - http://www.citytireonline.com/Federal595.htm
there's also the nexen n3000 and nankang ns-2. of the 3, i'd probably buy the federals from citytireonline since they're a vendor. another site i found is www.onlinetires.com and they have the same tires i've listed here for super cheap, but i have no idea how reliable a company it is. |

I bought the Z1SS thinking I was going to use it on the track/AutoX. I ended up using different wheels/tires all together. I am looking for a street tire and absolutely nothing more..

The Dunlop Direzza Star Specs ARE cheap tires. Thy just happen to be GOOD cheap tires. I would suggest staying with them unless you are looking for snow use as well as tarmac use.

If you really want to go cheap, look at a different size.
Also look for some used tires, maybe some cheap STi take offs. |

You make it sound like you have some special race setup, but you tell us you just drive on the street and you want the cheapest tires made for your car. If you can't afford good tires and just want some rubber to keep metal off pavement, stop being picky.
Sounds like you have to run extra camber to make your tires not rub so you look awesome. Oh, and feel free to report me for hella flush bashing. |

This car actually has alot of fender pull so the owner didn't have to run much camber with bigger tires. He probably has a little less than an aggressive track setup. I believe the original owner had sticky 255's on it. If you are setup for 255's then I'd just stick with it. The 265's are gonna be even more gas consumption (since it's just for street use) and possibly more work to fit if you go with something wider than normal or something similar.

I run -1* camber in the rear, a little more in the front. Yeah..that's crazy camber. |

I know someone with the 265 Hankooks so Im going to compare them next time I see him. IIRC its about the same amount of stretch as the 255 Z1SSs, so I think thatll be the tire Im buying. |

sounds good... I don't think the Hankook runs oversized so it should be fine.
