Default Mini EVO vs WRX Shootout, Cecil County Dragway, When?

Obviously, only vote if you plan to attend. We are looking to field no more than 16 cars. Its more of a friendly local competition thing, of which most of the cars competing will be running LOW 12s to mid-11s.

Its $35 to get in to race at Cecil and $50 to compete, winner takes all.

ie- $50 x 8 cars = $400 to 1st place.

Other details:
Single elimination
Heads up
Everything else, fair game

We may have two sponsors for the mini-event who will award the winner with discounts at their prospective shops (ie- Xotic Motorsports (http://www.xoticmotorsports.com/) and New Freedom Performance (http://www.newfreedomperformance.com/). Possibly something for the runner up as well.

Whose Running? (tentative)

WRXs
dug-e-fresh: 11.8 @ 118.6
mikaust: 11.5 @ 120.5
SinistiR: 11.9 @ 118

EVOs
Kev- 12.0 @ 122.3
ERaab- 11.8 @ 117

Another sponsor jumped aboard, so now we have:
New Freedom Performance (www.newfreedomperformance.com)
Xotic Motorsports (www.xoticmotorsports.com)
CD Audio and Performance & AudioImages (www.speedsunknown.com)

I will confirm if they all are indeed gonna offer prizes and or discounts.

order this.... its cheap and will get you up and running:

http://www.eclutchmaster.com/racingitem.asp?num=100

I was gonna get that, but ended up with:

http://www.jscspeed.com/wrx/clutch/spec.htm
(the Stage 3 4-puck)

Spec doesn't have the greatest rep... but I figured I try them out.

I am REALLY curious about that eClutchmaster 6 puck... if the Spec 4-puck doesn't work out, I am gonna go with that one. Someones gotta try it out Might as well be me... lol!

BTW- all you need to run 5spd clutches is the flywheel. I've ran both 5spd and 6spd clutch set-ups on my 5spd box.

I dealt with puck clutches years ago and really dread them. I got a place sorta by me (MRC) and they are a A-T-S clutch retailer now. Really nice full carbon fiber triple for $1000 less than that Exedy crap

My last clutch was the Exedy triple puck.... sameone Andy is running. It was one helluva mother f'er in SOOO many ways.

It took some serious abuse... and delved out some as well. It took some time getting used to it... eventually I did.

at any rate, a 3 puck is the worse case scenario. Everything else will be better. Sooo... the 4-puck is next... and if I don't like it... I guess I'll do the 6 puck.

BTW- I know solid hubs are worse the sprung... I am not even considering a pucked solid hub ANYTHING. Its gotta be sprung...

I know, I know.... lol!

Its gonna be something to contend with Andy... luckily for me, with the cage, that only makes my car all that much lighter than yours.

Your still doing the Green (for now), right?

That brings up a valid point about this competition. What do we do if someone breaks the 11.49 rule (and someone will, ) BUT, they don't have a cage AND won't be allowed to run again?

Do we make this a "Fastest Run of the Day" type thing? Maybe we could do 80% goes to best ET and 20% goes to highest mph?

Would kinda suck if 2 cars break out (faster than 11.49) and can't run after that... would leave someone running 11.50 a chance to take all the money.

We can't have that! lol!

The new motor will have stock crank, stock rods, CP pistons, arp studs and a little head work. I am going with an external wastegate also.

I will leave it up to you guys to decide about the 11.49 issue, since I wont have to worry about it. Lets try and be fair though.

I got used to the Exedy twin disc carbon setup pretty fast. The nicest thing about it was the wieght of the carbon disc. They are so light that there is no strain on the syncros so shifting is great.

All the carbon clutches are solid hub deals but they slip enough till they get a bit of heat in them. When I had a solid hub puck deal it was an on off switch. So I just stay away from them cause I could see myself breaking my rear R160 with that kind of grab. I managed to break my rear axles with the stock clutch and turbo

Oh I dont know, 100 maybe. It all depends on how much longer the clutch holds out. So it might be a 0 shot, lol.

And for the record, my best mph is 118.

hmm... 100, eh? Good luck with that one!! Seriously... I myself MAY do a 50 at somep point... but I'd rather get a bigger turbo. THEN, if that lag is that bad do a 35 to spool it...

mph noted.
