Default i hate peta. i hate their agenda and their means of 'getting their point across'

i'm not mad, i just think they're retarded.

Quote:
Anthony Bourdain is not a shy chef. The popular host of the Travel Channel’s No Reservations and author of The Nasty Bits is known for pulling pork, not punches. And his latest public statements about the politics of the dinner plate are no exception. Speaking to a video crew at the libertarian Reason magazine, Chef Bourdain summed up the animal-rights fight over foie gras in a way that captures exactly what’s going on behind the scenes:

Basically it’s people who don’t want you to eat any meat at all. And this is the spear point. It’s a vulnerable way in the door to get an easy win, a high-profile win. And they can then point to that and raise more money to go after the next thing.

You know, they’re smart. They know they’re not going to win going after battery-farmed chicken and the Colonel, or McDonalds, right out of the box. They’ll go and pick on small, artisanal, traditional farmers with suspiciously French accents—an ingredient that ‘only rich people can afford,’ and few understand.

Not that Bourdain finds propaganda battles distasteful. He allows that “it’s okay for PETA to use propaganda to scare people away from foie gras.” But the outspoken gourmand quickly adds that “when you start terrorizing chefs and extorting them, I think you’ve crossed the line.”

We also appreciated Bourdain’s thoughts about the latest push to mandate fat, calorie, sodium, and other nutrient labels on restaurant menus and menu boards:

On one hand, I don’t want people putting battery acid in my food. But on the other, I don’t feel that I need a twenty-page informational pamphlet telling me the cholesterol and contents of every special at every restaurant, as some people are suggesting … Essentially, we’re being infantilized by our government.

Not directed at you b84, but the whole PETA-bashing thing is over done. There are some very legitimate animals rights/protection causes out there that no one else is taking the lead on (e.g., coming down on the poultry farm where people were playing chicken baseball). Furthermore, it's becoming vogue to rationalize some pretty inhumane practices by citing a few nut jobs within PETA.

Certain extremists have a role in our society by making less extreme people seem moderate. Greenpeace would fall into this category. PETA might as, well. Basically, if it's possible to have reasonable positions that fall along a spectrum, extremists do moderates a favor. It doesn't work so well when positions are black-and-white.

S'truth. Also, these people whine to no end about animal research, but one doesn't seem to see them avoiding its products, vis a vis THE ENTIRETY OF MODERN MEDICINE. Idiot hypocrites.

Who is "them". How many peta members do you know personally, and how many of them declare that animal testing is wrong no matter the interest of study, and then how many of those do participate in items produced from animal testing?

BTW, I believe the idea is that animal testing has provided modern science with a great foundation, but it is not something that is needed to push forward. So "they" could still use modern medicine. Just my guess (NOT MY PERSONAL OPINION).

Master Shake: All right, now throw that chicken right down the middle. Okay, it's gonna go right outta the park, baby!
Meatwad: Where are you? Where's the strike zone?
Master Shake: Over here, follow my voice!
Meatwad: I can't see! I got some sort of chicken infection in my eye.
Master Shake: All right, fine. Go down the hallway and wash it out.
Meatwad: No, sir. I ain't never goin' down that hallway never again.
Master Shake: Then you pitch that chicken!

PETA is nothing compared to these whack jobs--> http://www.seashepherd.org/
The founder, Paul Watson, was so extreme, Greenpeace kicked him out.

Their leader is espousing the propaganda. How many of the followers does he really need to know to declare the statement bad?

PETA -- one of the largest animal killing organizations. You'd think if anyone would operate a no-kill shelter, it would be PETA:
http://www.petakillsanimals.com/

Maybe no one is "taking the lead" because PETA's silly tactics get them in the news and get any animal rights person labelled as a loon.
