Thumbs up Check out new Double Din!!!

This one looks tight! I like how the tape play is behind the face plate!

Very nice. Too bad Subaru did not put this deck into my car when I got it as a stock stereo.

Ah... but they do have a optional kenwood unit on the JDM spec vehicles.

It's Kenwood MD/CD player.

Funny, I much prefer the stock unit to this light show unit.

I also like having real knobs instead of the +/- buttons.

I'm very pleased with the stock unit, I guess different people have different tastes.

Don't get me wrong, there are things I would change about the stock unit (like not displaying the disc number larger than the track number, for instance), but overall, it's quite a nice stock stereo.

FWIW: I'm pretty sure it would clear the bottom trim. It looks like the face pivots down about 1/2" from the bottom.

All go, no show.

Angry

Why doesn't someone make a double din that doesn't look like a cheesy disco? [dream on] I'd pay big $$$ for a double din MP3 6 disc unit. [/dream on]

I prefer the function of the stock unit to the available aftermarket double-dins. The knobs are easy to reach and use, while nothing requires pushing a button more than twice.

I like the look of the Pioneer 8800 but a single disc isn't enough. I haven't and don't use tapes. Although I've heard good things about the Easy-EQ.

In the end, it doesn't look like there's a deck that has everything I want: knobs, 5/6 disc changer, double din, subwoofer pre-outs w/ independent level control.

if I had to pick a double din merely on looks I would go with this new(er) Pioneer. Although, it's slick looks, it doesn't make up for it's crappy 2V output and blah SQ. IMO

All that space, and not a usuable button or knob in sight!!!

Stick with stock. The only thing it doesn't have is a line-in.

Only the double din minidisc/CD headunits give me jollies. Allthough the Pioneer pictured above is very sleek!!

Unfortunately, Kenwood players are low quality and are mostly built for show and not sound. I prefer the stock double din CD/Tape/Weatherband Radio that came with my Legacy GT LTD. My .02.

I'm with the standard WRX unit aswell. I'm not a fan of the cheesy light show on the aftermarket stuff (although that Pioneer doesn't look too bad and would probably match the fake metal dash).
One more thing, why is it only the expensive aftermarket units that have RDS over here. I had a rental Chevy Malibu in Puerto Rico and even that had RDS on it! Its pretty much standard on all head units in Europe but maybe not used enough over here.
