anyone taken a newish impreza autoxing or rallyxing yet?
my outback feels like a school bus, i'm begging my wife to let me use her '12impreza for rallycross but she says no because shes afraid of scratches. im just curious if anyone has any impressions they could share? it seems much peppier than my car and it does handle so much better. im just contemplating what I could do with it cuz once she hits 100k miles she thinks she needs a new car. she just hit 23k and its not even a year old yet...

I believe he got rid of the car after the airbags failed. And iirc he couldnt get the rear end aligned properly.

There were probably only 2 cars in H-Stock
I will probably run my car ('13 Impreza Sport 5 speed) over the winter when the DSP car is down for upgrades. Probably STF since the PAX is better than HS. I'm curious about the VDC, I haven't read enough on it yet, but supposedly it doesn't turn completely off? Has the minimal intervention caused any problems during a run? What happens when it does intervene, does it go back to full strength? Any thoughts on the "launch"? My car is pretty slow off the line and has little pickup below 3k rpm (the altitude doesn't help). I'm worried it will be slow as a dog from the get-go. Has anyone dyno'd a '12+ or tried any launch techniques? I certainly won't be serious about autoXing this car (not that I am about the 240sx either) but may do some upgrades over time. It's my DD commuter car so absolutely nothing that harms mileage and only a little hit to ride quality. RSB, shifter bushings, springs, shocks eventually, and maybe a CAI. Anything else worth considering? |

I read the thread and it's all over the place. So many "you can do it this way" "No you can't, it doesn't work on my car" with little mention of what car, trans, etc. It's hard to know what's true. It'd be nice to have a comprehensive, accurate write up. I will have to experiment myself, maybe just the button will do it. ABS would be nice to keep though. I'm curious what James did in the video above.

I think pulling that fuse also puts it into "limp" mode. 4500rpm cutoff etc.

A different fuse does that I think.

That's another fuse. This is a very recent development, and it doesn't disable the engine function at all. I really don't think that you would need abs for autox or snow conditions either. This works on all 2012+ Impreza and Crosstrek models from what I've been made to understand.

Kudos to anyone auto-crossing the '12+ Impreza. With the seats lacking any real support, I'd be sliding all over the interior. Hell... I slide around the seat just doing some aggressive cornering during my daily drive. :-)

now I love the impreza so much more. im in pa right now driving my mom's Suzuki sx4 which has 5 less hp but weighs about 300lbs. less and it feels like a dump truck loaded with huge boulders in comparison to my impreza. and ya I call the seats slip n' slide in the impreza.

Are you saying you'd rather drive around on public streets without ABS, or rather slide around a snow covered parking lot without ABS? |
