Default Needing a new short block

Just bought my 2010 WRX on black Friday and then yesterday SHTF. thinking it might have started to make noise before I bought and I noticed a slight clicking a couple days after I bought but there seemed to be a lot of rattles and stuff on these cars so didn't really give it too much thought. Monday it got a little more noticeable but still figured it wasn't rod knock since it was only at certain throttle positions. Was planning on taking it in next week for another inspection.

then yesterday right after the first car wash it got nasty. pulled over right away when it started knocking real bad. got it towed to Mike Shaw Subaru in Westminster but I've been told to not trust them with a rebuild. Contacted SOA to see if they might be willing to do a goodwill repair or something but that's a long shot.

Mike Shaw Sub quoted me over $10,000 for the repair and Hueberger said that's ridiculous and at most it should be $7-8,000. Anywhere you would recommend going within 100 miles of Westminster, CO? Got AAA so i can get the tow for free but not more than 100 miles. I have a third car that i am driving right now and can sell for around $5,000 so it would be amazing if anyone could do it for around that price.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Bonus, here is a Pic of her!

If you're paying that much, maybe consider a nice built block?

Thinking about it but built blocks are usually around $3500 and OEM is around $1650 (at Hueberger Motors) and for being 5 days into ownership I'm still on a really tight budget. Might have to give them a call and see what they say

Definitely give them a call - they might be able to do a stock OEM block for cheaper than the dealership too.

Obviously, your first concern should be getting it covered by warranty.
