2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek Reviewed
2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek Reviewed Watch the full review video at Subiesport.TV The new 2013 XV Crosstrek replaces Subaru's outgoing 2012 Outback Sport. Though both cars are based on the Subaru Impreza, only the XV Crosstrek features additional ride-height equal to the Forester, larger brakes, and additional body bracing to better deal with soft-roading adventures. The new Crosstrek will only be available as either a Premium or Limited model starting at just above $21,000 (final pricing announced in Fall of 2012). Drivetrain choices include either Subaru's second-generation CVT or a 5-speed manual transmission mated to the 2.0 boxer from the street-going Impreza (148hp/145tq). Overall, the car is a great option for premium small crossover shoppers. It won't win any races, but for real-world needs, this car offers quite a lot of bang for the dollar. We did ask if an XT (turbo) Crosstrek was in the cards, to that question the Subaru rep only smiled and said they didn't comment on future products.

LOL that is one ugly vehicle in that color/wheel choice.

I love that color! It would be better as a matte though. And yes...this thing needs a diesel! Just like the Forester has needed on for 5 years...are you listening SOA???

This is one of two colors exclusive to the Crosstrek (and yes, I agree this would look great as a matte finish!) The other color is Orange... not my taste, but it grows on you.

He also, seriously, asked if he could pull the hand brake on a 148hp Crosstrek. I didn't hear a word for about 2 minutes after that I was laughing soo hard. |

Needs power more power. Might be fun on a dirt road by yourself but with 2-3 adults + luggage on the freeway, it's probably not even enough to follow traffic uphill.

Only if your a horrific driver. The first gen legacy wagon does fine with four adults plus gear.

Looks great but they should have used the BRZ version of the 2.0L engine with a 6 speed manual trans and be offering the diesel engine in North America as well.

First, it was many years ago when expectations were lower and traffic was slower. Secondly the legacy was built with several versions of the EJ20, including a TURBO. Yes TURBO. At least you had the choice back then, fast track to 2012 and we have just one engine with the torque of a compact car in a small SUV. Very poor engine choice from Subaru IMO. I'm sure a turbo will be available down the line but the N/A should have been better suited to this great chassis. |

A turbo diesel with CVT would be ideal in that car. Ditch those hienous wheels, steelies would look better imo. Subaru could do a Crosstrek STI geared towards endurance desert racing...Dakar Rally style. Just a crazy thought..... |

Very cool car for heavy offroaders. But other then that impreza or impreza sport seems better option (better mpg, slightly cheaper, lighter = probably faster, more stylish, similair cargo space)

Saw an orange one at the calgary auto show. A cool little CUV, but I wouldn't buy one personally. I'd rather a wrx hatch myself.
Give me a new Baja in STi trim though, that would be awesome haha. With a big enough box to fit my DH bike in it, then I'll trade in my rex |

"heavy offroaders???" hahahaha.... if by heavy offroader you mean going on the grass to avoid a speedbump at a park then yes. Nothing about a 145lb feet of torque and touring tires says offroad. They CVT and diesel WOULD be a fantastic idea; I'd buy one. But last I heard the diesel was only sold w/manual tranny...? Are they offering a auto now? |

I'm liking that khaki color quite a bit. The rims aren't my favorite, but they're interesting.
