Yeah then when your applying years the JDM market address's Model Codes like my Version IV STI RA engine I have to refer to Model "E" which covers the 97-98 WRX Version IV but for certain Parts it will tell you for Models "E-G" for example...This would cover 97-2000 GC's or GF's....

What about the 2.2L turbo from the early Legacy Turbos?

Are they considered the same model code as the 2.2 n/a?

Sort of-

According to the VIN breakdown in the 'Subaru Parts Quick Reference Guide':

Chassis code(model, body, engine): BC6
But to identify it as a turbo model you go to the next # of the VIN which is the "model information": 7=... Turbo 1991-94;...

Legacy turbo = BC67

Somebody with one needs to go check their VIN and confirm.

Yup. It's a BC67.

I was also checking my wagon, and it was a BJ6. Is it because it's a wagon? I figure the B is for Legacy and the 6 is for 2.2L engine.

hey, then what would the code for the american impreza be if it was the 2.5 liter n/a and 2 door? and if it was the 2 door coupe w/ a 2.0 liter turbo?

What year are you asking about? I'm assuming pre-02 (since there is no 2-door '02 and later).

The 2.5 n/a 2-door would be GME (GM for the Impreza chassis, 2-door and the E for the impreza 2.5L n/a)

The 2.0 turbo 2-ddor would be GM8 (Once again the GM is for 2-door impreza, and the 8 is for the 2.0 turbo motor prior to '02)

OK, I'm really confused now. I've got a 93 Impreza L wagon with a 1.8l engine. It's model number is labeled as a GF6, which according to the chart should give me a 2.5l NA Legacy engine. It has GF2 in the VIN, but I don't know what's going on with the Model #.

that is weird. according to the www.ravenblade-impreza.com code chart... every 1993-2001 impreza sedan or coupe is labelled GC8. even the 22b is labelled GC8E2SD.

the 2 door 2000 Subaru Impreza STi type R is labelled GC8G2FD

and the four door RA limited is GC8G4FD

what determines the number of doors is "G2" and "G4"

I just saw this thread and it's great! I've been under the delusion that my car is simply a GC8, but apparently it's not. I have a 1993 Impreza L Sedan 1.8L automatic. My vin number is JF1GC2449PH513***. So what am I? Am I a GC2 or a GC3 or a GC5?

I'm new so go easy on me; I think this is the right place to ask. I have an engine that is a 2.5 liter na SOHC. Is there any way to find out what vehicle the engine came from based on the engine #'s on the block? Thanks.

That is not true.. Even before the V7 there were still ej207's, and v8 are still ej207's.

That code is not a v7.
