Regardless I'm thinking about dynoing my car on the awd dynojet in town to see how far off they are.

Greg, how much more power can you make without going past the hp / lbs limit?

power to weight needs to be roughly 10:1. if i set the car to 3000 lbs, whp should be 304 before the 10% is added.

the more weight i can strip from the car, the less whp i need to make. i don't know the exact weight right now though i estimate its around 2980ish since the last time i weighed it. that's with no gas.

I am having a hard time finding more weight to shed though. i am going to try pulling the charcoal box this week.

Greg, are you going for st3? My Sti is at 3020lb with a few gallons of gas and me. My Dyno at Ziptie was 368hp (91 octane, 22psi on a 3076 turbo with supporting mods) so corrected its even higher. I need to retune my car to about 335hp for st2 which has 8:1 ratios. For next two events I will be in tt1 unless I can get to Dyno again. Other choice could be move to continental tires but that involves funding a good supply of a rare tire and wider 10" rims (currently running 9.5" with front cup tires that are plentiful at the track).
Have you thought about getting a 20g turbo? I made 330hp on my old set up so that could get you easy to 300 I would think.

20G-XT will most definitely get you to 300.

no, st2.
here's a screen shot of my ideal classing form

and actual, lol - it says st3, but i'll still race st2

but my times are competitive to st2, so unless somethings happened to my car since last race, i have a lot of potential time to gain.

i'm pretty sure i'm gonna go the tgv delete, fuel pump, injectors, e85 tune, route.

So 304 on a mustang, corrected numbers or non? If they are corrected then they are adding 10% on top of that it would be actually pretty easy. If it's non-corrected that would be an E85/Race gas power level. See above Jason is at 312 non-corrected on E85, and I'm sure he was at MBT. It was also said this was a generic AP staged tune, correct? If this is the case simply going to a custom (pro) tune will get you a lot closer to your goal. Corrected 280-290 whp on a mustang is common for a good vf39 tune.

If it were me, I would get rid of that APS manifold, They cracked on me every 6 or so months, weather it was a hairline crack or a full on break to one of the runners. I wouldn't waste your time chasing down any other problems, put a stock manifold back on and get a pro tune. I think you will see a few more WHP's then 240ish.

When this car was running its best(No I'm not saying this car was crazy fast)I beat my friends F360 Ferrari(yeah not the fastest car) on the freeway at a 60MPH pull by long shot. I would be MORE then shocked if it only made 240 WHP when I owned as many people can vouch that this car was not a slow stage 2 by any means....

Best of luck and change that manifold!

I know I went through one of those manifolds too. Which was too many based on how little I drove it.

I had 2 crack on me. Once they were re welded I had no issues with them.

@907bum, it's 304whp at SAE correction factor, then add 10% on top.

my setup needs to be fairly similar, my car weight is down a little from greg's, but i'm running a less sticky tire. my max whp on mustang dyno (again SAE correction) is 314whp, or 345whp on a dynojet. i do want to run the car on both and see how different they really are. NASA assumes 10% higher for dynojet, so it would be interested to back to back test on the same day. however, the AWD dyno that will be at MMP during the national championships in August, is the mustang from ziptie. so NASA racers, keep that in mind for which dyno you choose to get your classing forms done with.

I'm not sure I'm following you?

i was saying that trying to make your numbers look better my correcting for sea level is for pussies. It is what it is. You aren't racing at sea level so who cares what they "would be" at sea level.

Greg if you want to post up the rules I can help you put somethign together to reach your goals. Your goal isn't that difficult to reach, especially if you keep dropping weight.

it is to keep numbers consistent. we are not racing at sea level, but seeing how nationals will be held at miller this year, lots of people may be coming from sea level(or from somewhere in between) to race in September. correcting all numbers to sea level will make it so that those travelers don't have to get here and get on the dyno before the race.

as for rules. i think they are pretty open regarding how you get to a specific power mark as long as the power/weight is within the specified values.

My comment still stands about pussies. Is there any cat restrictions? car ride hight restrictions? Turbo restrictions?

no, but i'd like to keep it as affordable as possible. turbo is probably out of the question, but i don't think there are any restrictions on it. fuel is open, but water/meth has a star next to it. i would prefer not to run it anyway. ride height is good. i have no cats.

i found this picture of you on the internet

Don't mind me.

The modifications points are actually pretty wide open. I like that you don't get totally screwed by running engines from another manufacture in a car. (IE LS1 in BMW, 240 etc)

HERE TT3+ Classification. Which I understand are very simular to the ST.

TTB and below are HERE

well that did not go exactly as planned...lol

morning session were a bit chilly but relatively dry. it'd drizzle occasionally, but not enough to cause any real problems.

about 45 mins before the race, it decided to downpour for a bit. track was super wet and i was on slicks. I'd never raced in the rain before. I spun on the exit of turn one at the start and then four more times over the course of the next 2 laps. after the last spin, i was just trying to get off track. it was clear i wasn't going to be able to finish the race on these tires. i got black flagged on the way off and that was it lol.

pretty disappointed in myself though. i know i am capable of better, even in the wet.
idk what the problem was. i was feathering the throttle and the car just wanted to rotate constantly. on throttle(barely), turning in, it'd lock up if i barely got on the brakes. it seemed like the slower i tried to go, the worse it got

lack of experience, wrong tires and a bad wet setup i guess.

luckily it only rains on race day once every 2 years
