Default Real dyno numbers

I've searched the forum. Does anyone have real dyno numbers comparing stock 2013 WRX vs STI? I bet they're closer than what subaru published.

Here's a 2008 STI (mechanically the same as 2013), all stock.

I haven't found a stock late-model WRX graph yet, although I must have one somewhere.

Basically they make the same power.

VF52 and VF48 are pretty much the different size, just a different flange on the compressor housing.

Interesting stuff, man. I'm glad I decided on a WRX premium rather than a STI base. I couldn't wrap my head around the $7-8k difference.

Unless you keep them stock, it's worth it in the end to go STI. I have a 2008 wrx that now has a built trans, rotated setup (tuned by Dan), and makes 380whp because of obvious block limitations.

The transmission however...is where the money is worth it.
Wrx transmission breaks at...yes.
STI transmission takes a beating.
My built 5-speed cost me $6,000ish...and that doesn't cover diffs.

In the end I have some regrets over the 5 speed wrx. That's my justification.

because the 5 speed sucks if you decide to modify past the stock turbo, and upgrading to a 6 speed costs $texas$

If it were all about the fastest car you could buy for the money none of us would be in a Subaru in the first place.

STi Drivetrain
STi brakes

There is a lot more to add..but just look up dealer pricing on those two, new.

Hot button...
you pressed it...
expect at least 3 or 4 pages of people arguing the merits of STi vs. WRX.

I knew the higher price in the sti was basically tranny, diffs, and brakes. But for most of us, the WRX delivers with daily driving and the occasional lead foot. I'm satisfied knowing that with a couple simple bolt ons and a safe tune,, I can really open it up.

I just wanted to know real life power difference. I'm not debating wether or not the STI is better performer, just if its worth throwing down the extra cheese.

imo well worth the extra dough, the tranny situation alone is worth it.

its has better brakes, i dont know the difference in suspension on the new sti's and wrx. wheels/tires?

The transmission alone as stated is worth 6-7 grand over the ****ty wrx trans. When you upgrade your sti you can sell the sti parts. when you upgrade the wrx, noone wants the stock **** (less demand)

we did stage 2 on my boys 2012 sti and holy **** the car is fast. ive never rode in a stage 2 wrx that i thought was fast.

edit- i guess if you want to leave it stock. then get a wrx.

Plus the wrx has the LGT style turbo, limiting intercooler size and turbo options. Upgrade options for an STI turbo/intercooler are much higher in number. There are many things the STI trim comes with over the WRX base. The solid steering knuckle, tighter steering rack turn to lock, aluminum control arms, dual avcs vs just intake and larger front 5x114.3 bearings just to name a few of the perks.

The STI is a much better car. And once tuned they do tend to make some more power. DAVCS is pretty sweet. Plus the stock intercooler is great, while the WRX is quite subpar

I got the STi over the WRX because I thought the STi badge looked nicer.

Just look up insurance rates for an L and an STi..
