Default Tactrix Cable Question

I am currently running a Unichip on a 02 WRX and I am considering getting a tactrix cable so that I can do some datalogging. Since the Unichip is a piggyback system, will the tactrix cable read the real values seen by the ecu or those values that the Unichip tricks the ecu into seeing before it makes any adjustments to a value?

Well since no one else has replied...

I don't know much about the Unichip, but I think it works like a UTEC and is a piggyback. It shouldn't interfere with OBD-2 or SSM.

Keep in mind that what you log may not be what is actually happening, since the Unichip is fudging things. You'll just be logging what the ECU thinks is happening.

I think the only way it would not work would be if you had a standalone (obviously). Reflashes and piggybacks shouldn't break OBD or SSM. If the physical lines are there and you have any factory OBD or SSM ECU, those functions should work regardless.

Freon's hit the nail on the head.

The Tactrix cable will permit you to log via SSM from your ECU, but the values seen will be the values after they have been manipulated by the Unichip. Therefore, your MAF, boost, and timing figures will all be skewed.

Such will be the same for any piggyback engine management system, including UTEC, Unichip, eManage, or others. The only way to get unmanipulated, real data via SSM is if you are running a reflashed ECU.
