bov..returning or non returning?
alright. i have done some research here and read lots of differant reviews and opions. Went to the turboxs page and all. my question is....
should i stay away from the non-return type(typeh) bovs? some people seem to have no problem with them but it at the same time it feels like i should be using the return type. Really need some help here. thanks, skip

Since no one else replied, I'd say stick with a re-circulating valve like the Forge. Blowing off to atmosphere confused that MAF sensor, as I'm sure you've read 1000 times. I think if you take off your intake snorkel you can hear the stock one too. So I'm sure the Forge Re-circ would be even louder.
Good luck! |

It is the sound preference.
there is minimal performance change, not unless you have FMIC. I just recently took off mine. I am sick of the backfires during the shift. |

Stick with the factory or the Forge recirc. There are people running 25psi w/ the stock valve functioning fine including AlfriedSq among others. The BOV will just cause your car to not function the way it was meant to b/c of MAF confusion. I have removed the intake silencer and you can now hear the factory valve and the turbo much easier, MUCH EASIER. It's almost too much. SO just stick with that mod, then you're not confusing the ECU and your car will run the way it's supposed to.

buy a G.F.B blowoff valve from mrtralley that is the one i use and have never had a problem it bolts right up to the factory spot no adapters need and it is a dual bypass which means it blows into the atmosphere and also recirculates to keep things running smooth. I would only suggest running a full atmospheric blowoff valve if you have some sort of enginemanagment to tune it to run less rich when the blowoff valve goes off that is why cars backfire or some even stall.

I would also recommend sticking with the recirc type units.
I used to have a TurboXS TypeH, but sold it within a month after having part-throttle problems. I have also seen others at an autocross have the same problems at part throttle. I should mention that, using the TypeH BOV, holding it at part throttle, with the engine bucking somewhat, my car actually went into limp home mode. I should mention that I was not being hard on the car at the time - I was simply holding the car at the point where the problem existed. After about five to seven seconds, I got a flashing CEL and the car would barely move under it's own weight. Stick with a recirc unit. |

I have a GFB BOV and I run it 50/50. I would run it 100% recirc if I had the option, and I will never set it up 100% atmospheric.
