I was thinking about a used 2011-2012 GT as my next car once the WRX is paid off, but now I'm either thinking about picking up the facelifted 2013-2014 model or even waiting for the re-designed 2015 Mustang. The only problem is, it would be my only car and if they're making the 2015 even smaller than the current Mustang, it might be too small for an everyday car. Depending on the engine choices and size of the 2015 re-design, the facelifted 2013-2014 might be the way to go for me. Either way, I like that Ford is getting creative with the Mustang instead of just tiny changes here and there.

refreshed coming for 2013 model year (aka early-mid 2012) or in year 2013?
If they put boss engine in 2013 Mustang - I'll get one. |

I assumed they meant a facelift for the 2013 model year (available mid-2012) but maybe they meant for the 2014 model year and available mid-2013.

PR to english translation:
We are a bit riled up about Camaro beating Mustang in sales lately, so we're going to refresh the S197 Mustang one more time, as a swan-song model, not this fall, but next fall, to try and keep momentum up, for the 2013 and 2014 model years. The 2015 Mustang is the 50th Anniversary of the nameplate, so we are going to go ALL OUT, with a completely new model. And it might be introduced on April 17, 2014, 50 years from the day that the 1965 Mustang was introduced at the 1964 Worlds' Fair. (effectively making the 2014 model year a short one, and the 2015 model year a long one.) |

only a win if they also reduce weight. granted, they are the slimmest of the big 3 muscle cars atm, still too heavy.

they will lose weight if people can prove that they are willing to pay for it - its not a technology issue, but a marketing and profit problem. i trust ford to do their market research and not trust random enthusiasts on the forums claiming that they will own a car because of xyz reason.

I'm glad to hear that the next model will be smaller (and presumably lighter). The current car looks huge. Hmm, maybe a convertible in a few years for the family...

Please...not another move to a similar Mustang II based on a pinto. This car kinda looks like a Mustang front on a Camaro. It looks good though.

Hyundai had a decent start with the Genesis coupe, but I don't really know how well they are selling. In any event, if they have any hope of competing with entry level Mustang sales in 2014, they better step it up a lot. |

Ford's GT500 ZL1-Fighter Coming 2013, Mustang Redesign 2014: Exclusive
Looks like they're putting the TT GT500 rumor to bed, at least for now. 2013 GT500 will still be supercharged, but a 5.8L with 600-620hp. Facelift of current Mustang for either 2013 or 2014 model year. Confirmed complete re-design for the regular Mustang in 2014 for the 2015 model year (smaller and IRS). |

5-cylinders irks me anyway. It is not divisible by 4 cycles or 3, one of the least common divisors of 360 degrees of revolution, nor 2, so pistons cannot counter-balance each other. What is the big advantage of a 5-cylinder, over either an I4 or an I6? Maybe reduced length for transverse applications that would have trouble fitting an I6 sideways. (BMW motorcycles can fit a transverse I6 without grinding it on the road, so that is becoming less of an issue) I4 turbo has a history with Mustang in the 80s, as does I6 from the beginning. V6s have replaced I6s for the most part, because they are less lengthy than I6 longitudinal engines. Mustang has no I5 history. Ford has an EcoBoost 4, and an Ecoboost twin-turbo V6. Why would they pull an I5 out, when they have those, and a good NA Ti-VCT 3.7 V6 with good economy, AND over 300hp. IRS and a less bulky body might just be enough to bring me back to being a Mustang Fanatic, like I was in high-school, before Mustang languished through the late 90s. The first car I ever bought for myself was a fox mustang. A close relative has a 2005 Mustang convertible now. But I would buy a Subaru competitor to the Mustang V6, with a 3.6 H6 and AWD, in a HEARTBEAT over a RWD mustang, because I wouldn't have to put it away in the winter, and drive something else, like my relative does, and like I already do with my RWD Miata. But a nice 300+hp Mustang convertible with IRS and a lot less bulk might replace the Miata, if the Miata doesn't improve measurably over the competent, but bland NC Miata. I need to replace the SVX long before the Miata needs replacement, but the Miata probably won't last forever. 2015 would make the Miata I have 16 model years old... maybe time for pampered-classic status, rather than one of the daily-drivers in fair weather. |

If I wanted a Camaro I would go buy one, but I'm a Ford gal through and through!
Wow this car is the worst insult to the Mustang ever . Why in the world do they want to make it look like the new goofy looking Camaro . This car and the Camaro both look like they have the same dumb smile across the grill . Please reconsider this design. This car looks nothing like a Mustang . It appears that Ford has stooped to copying other manufacturers car designs, since they don't seem to be able to come up with something on their own . It's too bad, the Ford Mustang is a totally awesome car . I don't see anything, but disaster written on this Mustang design. In closing that is why their is Ford and Chevy, because we all do not like the same design in cars .

looks gorgeous to me. interior needs modernization and quality. 2013 Mustang needs that for rejuvenation of sales.
