So today after work my car had both the abs and brake light on. It drove fine for a while but about a block from home at an intersection it started to idle really low. Almost to the point of shutting off. Then when I accelerated from the stop light, it had really slow acceleration. Also it sounded like I was in too high a gear but I wasn't I was in first and going about 10, then I shifted up to second around 20, and third around 30. Thing is I've never had this happen before. Also going up to my house it really started to sound like it was in too high a gear. Also the speedometer and tachometer stopped working. Then when I stopped at home I looked at my voltage reader and it said 8 volts. I shut it off and turned it back on and it was fine and at 13v. Anyone that has had this issue or knows what it could possibly be please help. I want to figure this out before work tomorrow.

Sounds like a bad battery connection maybe? Check the terminals for corrosion.

Could also be a number of sensors see if there are any fault codes if you have a reader.

Maybe a crank position sensor?

Yeah that sounds like a bad battery to me, especially the tach/speedo not working. But that could be a wrong assumption. Any CEL?

I had similar behavior in my 08 and it turned out to be my oil was low. There was a turn I would hit that would drop the pressure and Sue would get mad and enter the ol’ “limp home” mode.

Try out a quart of oil...
