Looks good. The viscosity held steady for the OCI.

The TBN looks good, too. With my Amsoil OE sample, the TBN was 2.8 after 4700 miles. Your TBN is 3.0 after 8k miles. Excellent.

I won't feel bad about switching back to it once all my OE Is gone. I have 13-15k to decide

Looks like a bit more moly, a lot more calcium, and overall higher viscosity when compared to OE. I really wouldn't have a problem going back to it and extended intervals

Yeah.

What's the powertrain warranty on our Imprezas? 60k miles? That might be when I make the switch. I wouldn't want to have an engine problem, and then have the dealership/SOA tell me that the warranty is voided because of the extended OCI.

We need somthing to compare these oils to. Like the dealer-used oil at the reccomended 7500 mile interval. Or even a generic 0-w20 synthetic at 7500 miles.

Or Mobil1. That oil has so many enemies on this forum, so I'd love to see real Mobil1 data from a UOA.

Yes, i totally agree. Thats what i meant by generic: any average quality off the shelf oil.

But M1 specifically has many enemies here.

The few folks on here who run M1 in their fb's havent reported any ill effects.
But yeah I've said it before-
Someone needs to get a uoa of subaru brand oil after 7500 miles without topoffs.

I'm currently at something like 3950 on my Subaru 0w20, and haven't topped off anything yet. I don't know if I'll make it to 7500, but I will let you guys know.

Are you willing to send a sample in for a Used Oil Analysis, when it's time for your next oil change?

I'll try to make it to then The OCD in me says I should probably change it sooner, since I'm only at 11k miles and this fill has been through the dead of winter.

I assume even sending it in at around 6500 would suffice as well - it would give us a good indication as to how much longer it could have lasted

please do, the more samples the better. I don't like being the only one to send in a "high mile" sample

i was thinking about my UOA..

a lot of the miles were in the cold (less than 30F and down to -20F) which is hard on oil. I wonder what my TBN would have been if all 8200+ miles had been in the spring to summer?

That looks good! Guess I'll stick to getting my free dealer oil changes. Thanks for the info.

excellent. i'm planning on 5k/6mo oil change interval. i should, however, of course send my own oil in to get a clean bill of health or be alerted to any problems down the road while i still have a warranty.

Mine is going to usually be changed at 3,750 miles. I have a 22 mile round trip commute no highway. Takes up to 45 minutes 1 way because of traffic flow (or lack of). Severe duty for sure...

Still may be overkill but not a bad idea to help make your ride last. I've got a 22 mile round trip commute with only a few lights average speed of 45. 15 min both ways so I'm going to be closer to 7k. Probably will still get an oil analysis just to be certain. I think we all need to give some credit to subaru engineers though......I'm sure they have tested beyond tested to make this interval recommendation. They wouldn't be near or at the top of all auto manufactures giving bad advice.

Cheap peace of mind for me. I've never had a problem from running shorter OCI's.
