Default Bill Kolb, Jr. Subaru - Two Thumbs Up!

I bought a 2005 Sti from Bill Kolb Subaru today

What a great experience, they know Subarus and they know how to make a customer happy

(Their prices on used STI's are also significantly lower than anywhere else on line)

Its cool when the owner answers the phone and my sales guy 19 year old Mike did a great job

Thanks to Weasel 555 who sugested them to me a long time ago

It feels good to be back behind the wheel of a Subaru ! Thankfully, the car is already broken in so I'll be doing some mods almost immediately, I have the bug again.

Wow al back in the subaru world? I think I'll be in the minority but welcome back. We need more people with your enthusiasm back in the subaru community, but maybe just watch the cockiness a little bit.

I am just a car addict - there is no hope for me, I have to be modifying something or life has no meaning . . . . I guess it could be worse (I could be a stamp collector - no offense to anyone who does that)

Who knows what will happen next, when I bought the Evo I told my wife this car is fast enough stock so I don't have to work on it - HA

I have to head out on a road trip and get the vibe and feel of this whip and see what direction it takes me in

Mulder - Interesting to see a GTO under your screen name! I was down in DC tuning some cars and a guy who owns a MR EVO brought down his 05 GTO and let me take it for a test drive. Needless to say its a really amazing machine. If anything the only down side was it felt a bit heavy but certainlty a amazing machine.

Yeah it's a bit heavy but with 400/400 who cares. It's a great highway car and lots of fun. Hopefully it won't snow too much this winter so I don't have to park it for a long time.

Glad to hear someone had a good experience at Bill Kolb. All I know is Ill never buy another car from them as long as they have the same owner, and if for some reason i DID go back, i would avod the salesperson I had like the plague, she was very unprofessional, and I cant say Id recommend them, but congrats on the ride.

Why is it that everyone else gets good experiences and i dont?!!?

LOL

Andy sorry to hear about your bad experience with them. I cant say i love bill kolb subaru, i just get very good deals with them because of my past relationship with the dealer. I made all of their signs and did all the lettering on and in the building so i get the hook up hence the screen name sign shop. I dont even think that saleswomen works there anymore, actually my salesman domminic dosen't even work there anymore. He moved onto mercedes benz. All in all sorry to hear about that man, better luck next time i guess.

they dont budge on prices.. thats all you gotta know when you go in... i tried to get $200 extra in parts to repair the damage by the previous asshat owners' stupidity.. they just pointed to the paperwork that says "all vehicles are sold cosmetically as-is"

one week and $90 later its fixed and i dont care..but still...

the guy i had let me rip around in both cars... the silver one that Anashty now owns..and the black one that i bought.. he then got real excited when i brought my old WRX up when i came to pick the legacy up.. he wanted to see all that i had done to it since he was buying a new 06 wagon soon

sure they could be a little less cheap.. i asked for a glass of water since it wa s damn hot day and i was outside for an hour and a half waiting for a salesman to go drive with... and i got a small 4oz. cup of room-temperature water
it was still a good time to be had for buying a car.

You are very perceptive

In fact you opened my eyes to some details that I over looked in my joy - but after reading your post came to light

Although the prices are very competative, they would NOT move a penny lower - period which was odd as most dealers will play ball with you

Also - one head light is leaking and has condensation in it - they would not agree to fix it what so ever which was kind of rigid - it was take it or leave it - its the way it is

Then - they hit me for $91 for the remote - again take it or leave it

Basically, I liked the car so I just decided to eat the head light and remote but it seemed odd

At least they did offer me a Diet Coke which was great

I was just there today signing all the paperwork and sadly I wont have the car realesed to me in time for the race this weekend - but soon enough I will be in action !

Overall it was a very positive experience at Bill Kolb - just a few "issues'

The sales guy 19 year old "Mike" is a great guy to deal with - I rate him 110% he is a real person not some typical "used car salesmen" trying to screw you over and a guy who really likes fast cars (even if he drives a benz)

my remote was free ... my salesman liked me that much.
they say cars are traded in without them.. but i think they just take em all and make you pay for them..another way to get a easy hundred or two.
FYI, search EBAY for remotes, under $25 shipped half the time with programming instructions.

did your car come with a full tank of gas... used cars dont, so i only had 1/4 tank ...oh well tho, as you said, it was a "fair" deal.. and there were no other LGT's for a decent price at the time, so i got it and delt with the minor inconveniences on my own. i like 160 miles away..so i wont be seeing them for service or anything.
if your car has condensation in the headlight, take it back to the shop for an oil change sometime, then complain about it...warranty replacment

Well I got my car about 3 weeks ago, so I HOPE they let my saleswoman go because she was awful. I had no clue about the remote thing, they charged me for the two i bought, and I thought it was odd, but whatever, like Murray said, the deal was pretty fair to begin with, soooooooo yea.

I mean I got the car I wanted and paid pretty much what I wanted to and I got it in 3 days (even tho the day of delivery felt like 6 days by itself).

All in all it wasnt that bad, but I highly doubt I will be going back and dealing with the same person I did IF I ever go back.

HAHA, i beat on your car before you bought it!

i put like 15 miles of backroad abusing, clutch burning, tire ripping fun on it, then said "yup...i'll take the black one"

you got your car for the same price i got mine... except you paid more since you got the remotes too mine was free

i had to wait a week to pick my car up, that took FOREVER. then all i did was drive it to Weasel's and let it sit for 28 hours...

Better to have beaten on and abused his car before him than have previously gone air tight with his current girlfriend with you and a few of your drunken pals before he met her

In my case - no matter what they did to this car before I bought it - - I will be doing much worse very soon

That scam with the remotes is really a cheap ass stunt IMHO

I think when you buy a one year old STI it should come with a remote

They told me that they had to erase all remotes per SOA rules to prevent thefts

What ever man - its cheap - IMHO

What's next - "Oh did you want oil in your car or will you take it without oil?"

At least they did not try to do any paint protector, under coating, theft etching or any other similar BS that you see in the automotive business

As for the headlight - they won't warranty it as the previous owner did a paint job on the headlights and removed the yellow part

I guess I will just have to take them out and re-seal them, no biggy
