CEL - Evap issues?
last night my CEL came on during normal driving. Car runs fine. Took it to auto zone to get the code. Came back with a P0447 which auto zone has listed as "EVAP Emission Control System Vent Circuit Open"
a google of the code came back with "Evaporative emission control system vent control low input" so... i have no clue what to check. Read about a possible bad connection. but where is the sensor thats throwing this code located on the car? Any help would be much appreciated. Car is pretty much stock other than perrin ic hose, turbo inlet, and a CAI. Thanks in advance, Ryan

oh that one...
ok now that I understand and remember what that is. 1) check gas cap make sure it's ok 2) check the hoses in front of the intake manifold passenger side right in front of the the cable for the throttle. between the PS and alt. Those hoses can cause this problem. If any of these have a leak this cel will happen. I zip tied mine on for good measure. 3) look under the passenger side rear bumper at the gas evaporator box thing near the wheel. There is a two wire connector there. make sure both wires are connected to the connector. If it's not solder the connections and seal it with shrink tubing. |

I have the same issue, and found last night, that one of the wires was broken right at the clip. Not enough wire there to make a decent connection. I took the female connection part out of the plastic housing and spliced it as best I could. I could not find my soldering pen ANYWHERE so I'm picking one up on the way home.
Anyway, due to the shortage of wire, do you guys know of anywhere that sells the plugs with a couple inches of wire on them? I would like to use a new plug all together. Thanks, -Ted |
