OMG just took a ride in it today.. well yesterday. 2 Thumbs up on the car, now you only need that front lip and maybe a JDM hood scoop.

I must say this log is pretty impressive. Thanks for being "real" and honest about the time and effort that truly goes into taking on a project like this. Many people out there get caught up in the magazines and hype and want the car done in a "couple" of weeks. That being said, I'm sure it can be done but at what exxpense to the customer?
Anyhow, from a fellow tech.......GREAT JOB. Jose |

out of curiosity, why did you use the GD steering column and not just keep the GC column with the STi rack?

It wasn't that much, but we don't charge ourselves for our own labor. The GC car was something like $5k. (Too much, in my opinion!) The salvage '04 STI was acquired in trade for shop parts and services. We bought probably another $2000 in miscellaneous parts. We got a bunch of stuff donated by our very supportive suppliers. (See sponsor mentions above.)
But the labor was a LOT. Weeks and weeks of multiple people working on it in every spare moment. To reproduce it I would cost at least $20,000, I'd think, assuming you're not a shop... --Dan Mach V FastWRX.com |
