You're talking about 14"-18" of intercooler piping. You won't notice.

I haven't been on the forums in quite a long time but I started my engine bay shave, wheel well tub about 3 years ago and got about half way done when I lost interest and moved on to other things. I have recently gotten back in to finishing my Subaru and got the engine bay shave done and painted.
I didn't get as much shaved as I'd have liked because I just wanted to get it finished but it's good enough for me. I painted it aspen white and just need to get my engine put back together to start on the wire tuck. |

A little bit of what has been done so far, I've deleted the abs, deleted the brake booster, I will be runnin new brake hardlines from the brakes into a wilwood proportioning valve and into a wilwood pedal with the master cylinder attached to the pedal inside the cab, center diff has been welded up for rwd and my engine will be going back in mostly stock (only mild port and cam regrinds).
I will be rebuilding my other ej253 with sti crank, sti rods, hi compression Pistons to bring the compression to around 14:1, worked over heads, twe cams and hopefully if I can figure the tuning out I am going to try my hand at itb's. |

Mine is going to the fabricator in a couple of weeks to have all the holes filled and brackets removed. Also getting a roll bar built and the rear quarters modified for the Karlton flares.

Thought I'd kick this off again.
If interested search oliverboyz1 on Instagram for how the car looks, it's a classic shape gc8. Last edited by Sector9russell; 08-29-2016 at 07:04 AM. |

Nothing too spectacular yet... But I did manage to do a partial shave on rear firewall. This go around the ABS module, Power Steering, Fuse Box, Battery and harnesses couldn't be tucked. BUT... They most certainly will be on the next phase of the car!

I've finally gotten some time to work on my subie, I've gotten the engine put back together and painted the engine and trans and shot a couple pics today.
Plans have changed on the engine, it's going to be getting boosted instead of hicom n/a. The turbo will be located right in front of the drivers wheel well tub, I will be making my own headers, up pipe and down pipe so I can get everything where I want it. I'm going to start trying to figure out my wiring tuck soon. |

What are people doing about the vin plate on the drivers side strut tower? Drilling out the rivets and replacing the plate? Where can you find Subaru rivets?

^^ why not just drill it out and keep it off? It's on the dash and firewall too.
Mine was cracked in half and falling off from the years (2001 car). So I just drilled the remaining rivet and welded the holes closed. |

I believe that if you remove that plate it's considered illegal tampering. I'm not 100% though and I would like to know the answer.

Shaved, wire tucked, and custom engine bays?

It might be, but I really doubt any place would check, or even notice. There's lots of things you're not supposed to mess with on cars, but people do anyways. My local state inspection places didn't notice or care. I even had an enhanced inspection done to get the car legal again for insurance, and they didn't say anything to me. Reaching out today for a little more exacting guidance when it comes to fuse box and harness relocation. Has anyone here had a significant amount of luck in relocating a large amount of the items into the windshield wiper reservoir?
Come October of this year my car will be going back under the knife again and I'd REALLY like to make sure that I have taken all the necessary steps to ensure that not only has the rewrite been done correctly, but that it has been done as well as it possibly could have been done. I want the car to look the part in 2018 for a SEMA build, and it needs to be well executed. I went diving back into the Advanced Search options for the forum AND this thread, but it seems like many of the old pictures are no longer being hosted. Can anyone chime in with their experiences? Did you delete ABS completely? Did you relocate your PS reservoir? Anything that you wish you knew then what you know now? Thanks in advance guys... Peace -TurboTod |

I bailed on the wiper motor reservoir / cowl area due to the amount of water that collects in there when it's raining. I'm now putting my fuse box in the glovebox or under the driver seat (haven't decided yet)
I'm keeping my ABS because I drive like a ham-fisted idiot so it will be relocated directly under the oem location with a custom bracket. |

No other inputs from the tucks that have been accomplished?? Power steering reservoir deletion or relocation? Anyone messed with the idea of using an electrical unit from a different platform (MR2)?? What about ABS deletion? Was the alternator swapped out for a higher output version? Where did you get the P/N from? The relocation brackets, were they fabbed up in house? Would you consider your bay a "show bay" or a "business bay"?

I still think inverting the ABS is the sleekest way to clean up the bay but keep functionality
