Angry When spring install goes wrong

Everything was going great! Besides having to go out to buy a deeper 17mm socket and a 4 foot pipe for leverage, the install was straight forward. I had finished 3 sides and was almost done with the front left when i ****ed up. After seating and tightning the strut top and bottom two bolts, i went ahead and began using my torque wrench on the strut top nut. I guess i wasnt paying attention and snaped the stut up top where the thread is. It must have been weak to begin with because there is no way I could have the force to break it. I used all hand tools for the install. I'm soo pissed right now. So close yet no car to drive!!!!

Anyone know where i can buy a single strut?

the torque on the strut nut is 41 ft-lbs. I just use the impact gun on a low setting to do mine though.

I think ya better be real careful what you are reading...

129ft-lbs is for the strut to knuckle attach bolts.....NOT the strut shaft to strut top....which is as Nick posted...41ft-lbs.

I wouldn't advise using an impact gun on the strut top nut. I say this after having exploded one myself. Not a fun experience.

That threaded shaft will eventually break.

I've taken that nut off a particular set of struts countless times using a fairly strong impact gun. It's not the tool, it's the user
