Ahhhh yes. My bad. My friend Kelcy was getting more comfortable with manual shifting on the highway. I was jealous of your car's utility. Reminded me that I have a bike rack I bought almost two years ago that I still haven't mounted on my car...

Who is the short block for?

So I am wondering if I'm one of those unfortunate guys that is in the right place wrong time. In the past 3 days I have seen two silver 2007 WRX hb, a red 1999 RS coupe with white hood details, black 2009 STI, silver 2008 bugeye, and a purple 2004 STI. I have waved to all but if they even bother to look all that is given back is a dirty scowl. Just think it's odd. I drive a 2000 2.5RS with dark blue body, black hood, trunk, and rims. (I'm new here)

for me I've gotten about as far as mechanically safe build on my stock engine. Got a new billet upgrade turbo coming for it. The short block is all rebuilt with new crank, Weisco pistons and I have a set of H-beam rods for it. Gonna do a Borg Warner EFR 71/63 turbo build this winter. Should be about 500-ish hp when done.

There's no one pushing people to join AKIC. Conti did it back in the day, so every new owner was put on to it. Now there's really no community since AKIC couldn't band together and fill the void needed to bridge New School and Old School. Too much drama, and I don't blame people for phasing out and not phasing in. There are a lot of lurkers on here that don't want to get attacked for asking "simple" questions. I get PM'd stuff frequently enough simply because I seem nice and helpful. It's sad, really. I don't even think we have a stickied thread that says, "New to AKIC? Say Hello!".

I think AKIC can be relevant again. What we really need are unique AKIC stickers, for starters. I'm not sure what the penalty is for copying the logo we want or why we can't make a new logo, but I think we just need to do it. It's silly. I still have NASIOC stickers that I haven't put on my car because it seems like a cop out from not having AKIC stickers.

Also a separate meeting place OR we can meet with ATC, but just be identified by our stickers and overall demeanor. I think we've got a solid, nice group of AKICers right now that just needs organizing.

I stopped meeting since it primarily became Taco Bell, the FWD drag-racing strip.

As for ATC, mom always told me, if I can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all...

Well I know for a little bit we would meet earlier for the Subie guys that wanted to meet, but had families and were just responsible. Then around 9PM or so us younger folk would meet the Bro Bellers.

I'm generally busy until late at night and that's when I like to cruise casually before heading home, so meeting earlier isn't really something that works for me except occasionally. Someone else can head that up. I don't mind heading up a 11PM AKIC Subie meet to just cruise for those that don't want to be associated with other groups, but want to meet fellow Subie enthusiasts.

I've been a lurker for about a year. I know Eric from work, and just met another guy (DJ) on base this week. I'd be interested in meeting up with y'all.

My sport bike club in Vegas had weekly "TWT" (Two Wheel Tuesdays) meetings for dinner and several people would end up going for a ride afterwards. We went out to the races (to hang and race). We also had tech days at a members shop on a Sunday every couple of months. We adopted a family at Christmas each each year and threw a massive pot luck and spoiled the adopted family's kids. It was a good time. But I'll tell you, organization is the key and the person holding that key does have to devote a ton of time.

Its different now days. I can't hang with the other groups (that aren't military) because of extra curricular activities.
I have a blue 05 sti here at CATM with eleven led lights in the front.

Back then the excitement of meeting other subaru drivers and meeting for events i.e. meets, track days, and cruises was fresh and exciting because subaru, turbo, and awd where nowadays most be like 'oh look just another subaru.'

Welcome.. I think I have seen your car around a few times. Mostly passing you going the opposite way on the Glenn when I'm headed home.

I'm a former Subaru owner, but still lurk and post occasionally, attend random meets and stoke fires here and there.. LOL.

I do a little bit of graphic design...so I just played in Adobe for 20 minutes, and did this rough logo replica. Came out pretty close to the original. Technically you could print it here locally in any printing shop in any color you like...but then again, I'm sure it's copyrighted and I'm not sure what would the penalty be for copying if any.

You will find me here. Right up until people start doing 8,000RPM WOT pulls, then you'll find me on the next offramp. Bad enough I rip on every Harley Davidson owner alive. I respect people's evening, but do enjoy meeting other Subaru owners and seeing other unique vehicles.

I will admit that I do get a LOT of waves from various Subies and I don't always call them all out on this thread because honestly, I don't recognize the drivers and I don't see enough uniqueness in the cars to call them out individually. I've always assumed that if they were on AKIC they'd either say, "Waved at a BRZ" or "saw Chano" since I post all the dang time. So I assume now that they're not members, but just saying, "Hey! You've got a nice car too!"

I didn't know either, so I googled it: Wide open throttle, aka "flooring it"
