Did Kia leave the Honda S2000 out on purpose or not know Honda is trying to bring it back?

Hyundai/Kia need a lot of the help in the chassis tuning department. I'm not sure they'll pull this off.

I'm pretty sure price isn't a barrier when comparing this segment since it's tiny to begin with and buyers will cross shop them eventually regardless of the price difference. Most of all it isn't even out yet so stop pulling that number out from your ( )o( ).

Take a guess what the S2000 sold for in its last year on sale? Better yet, look it up yourself. S2000 is not an affordable fun car.

This story: X car company will make a car to compete with Y car. It will have either a manual or automatic transmission. It will make horsepower and torque. It will have four wheels. etc. etc.
What are you talking about? This segment is ALL about price. "How much performance (perceived or otherwise) do I get for my dollar?" is the question the buyers of this segment have in mind. |

If they compete in the same rwd coupe market as the BRZ/FRS (not convertible, not hand built engine) they'll make something completely boring that will be mediocre in every aspect. That is, if every car they released for the last 10 years is any guide at all. |

As I said many times, nothing but good things for the segment if the BRZ/FT86 did well.
A new dawn rises. --kC |

Honda needs to build a simple, 2-seat, mid-engine car using a Civic Si motor if they want in on this segment.

If Kia comes out with something the engine will be great but the chassis and gearbox will be crap. The Genesis Coupe could be such a great car if not for a couple of really bad shortcomings, this won't be any different unfortunately.

I wouldn't count them out yet. The Korean car manufacturers are improving their products at a faster rate than the Japanese did when they started selling cars in the US. IMO, Kia has a better chance of building a RWD car that can take on the BRZ/FRS and MX-5 than say, Nissan or Honda or any US-branded auto manufacturer in the near future.

Nissan has experience with the 370z and Honda had the S2000, so I see no reason to doubt their abilities. Both with long motorsports reputations. Ever seen a Kia win a major race? |
