Cigarette lighter cell phone charger adapter
Hi all,
I was just talking to someone at the parts department of Richmond Subaru, and she claims that I need to purchase and install something called a cell phone charger adapter in my cigarette lighter in order to use the car charger for my cell phone. Otherwise, using the charger without it can blow a fuse or something. Is this true?

I recall a warning tag on the cigarette lighter plug saying that you shouldn't use the cigarette lighter after you've plugged in an 12V accessory in the lighter socket. This is because the accessory may bend the internal parts in the socket so that the lighter does not to pop out properly and causes a fire hazard.
Maybe there is indeed an accessory that Subaru sells that provides a voltage socket doesn't bend the cigarette lighter socket internals... Still, since I don't smoke, it's not a big deal for me. Martin |
