Looking to do motor swap soon. need advice
I am planning on maybe swapping my motor out for something with a bit more performance.... I remember reading here a while ago that the eJ22 out of the old (91-94) legacy's were turbo'd and that the motor was suppose to be a beast when it came to boosting. does anyone know what motor im talking out cus if that is true i would like to do that.
On a side note i am not hugely power hungry... so 150-200 WHP is what i am wanting to do. so the other moters i was thinking about was a Ej25 out of an RS or doing a WRX motor swap. any opinions or recomendations on what motors/setups to use? oh FYI i have an EJ22 SOHC with 115K miles on it

The EJ22T is the early Turbo motor. Very strong motor with a bunch of improvements over the basic EJ22.

A wrx swap is also a good option as they are readily available and fairly innexpensive + so many people have swapped them you can find hundreds of write ups. Will |

agree. Just get a wrx motor, then your easily at 200 + whp and can upgrade that nicely when wanting more boost!!

Well i found the motor with turbo and everything (minus the trans) for $250. but does anyone know where i can find info regaurding the motor. more specifically the specs of it like the compression ratio, forged or cast parts and such.
its good to hear that the motor can take alot... though i do plan to stay around the 200HP mark. if i can use it to keep up or even beat a stock WRX ill be happy... im not looking for STi status or anything Also.. anyone know if this motor will directly bolt up to my 98 Automatic transmission? yes the motor is comeing from an Automatic from 93 also.... anyone know of some writeups for dropping these EJ22T into new model impreza's like 98's or so also anyone know if i have to change the ECU in my car to work with this turbo'd motor. And/or which ecu i will have to use for this motor and my automatic trans to make it OBD II compliant. Last edited by Mechkiller31st; 04-21-2010 at 08:12 PM. |
