Here’s a relatively fast way to check to see if the spokes of a wheel will clear the Brembos. I did measurements off of my car and found out the Brembo caliper sticks out 34mm past the hub (the point where the wheel mounts) on the front wheel of the Sti. Then I pulled off the BBS and measured on the inside of the wheel the distance from surface where the wheel mounts to the hub and the backside of the spokes (40mm – 41mm). This gives the stock BBS wheel a clearance of around 6mm between the front of the calipers and the back of the spokes on the front wheel. Now given the curve of the spoke may vary wheel-to-wheel this measurement may not work in all cases, but should be a good general fitment indicator. I unfortunately did not measure from the center of the hub to the point where the spoke on the BBS wheel starts to curve. On the stock BBS wheel after the initial bend coming from the hub the spoke is relatively straight to the inside edge of the wheel.

Anyway, before doing the dry fit on the Racing Sparco Tarmac I measured the distance on the inside of the wheel from the surface where the wheel mounts to the hub to the back of the spokes (39mm – 40mm). After mounting the wheel on the car I measured from the front of the caliper to the back of the spoke (3mm – 4mm). Brembos site mentions a minimum of 3mm clearance. All the measurements were taken in a confined space, no not a prison, in my one car garage, so they may be off slightly +/- 1mm.

So, to get a fair idea if a wheel will fit. Pull the wheel, get a flat object to lay across the mounting surface on the inside of the wheel (I used a 12” drafting triangle) then with a mm ruler measure various points from the back of a spoke to the edge of the object or triangle. I took measurements from the inside edge of the wheel to the point where the spoke starts to curve. If your measurements are >= 40mm I’d say you have a good chance that the wheel will fit on a STi.

If you are interested here are the measurements I took from my Sti that I had posted on another site. I thought about making a template like the one on the StopTech site and then posting it, but now that I have my wheels I have gotten lazy. These measurements where taken outside in good lighting, so they should be accurate.

Here are the measurements I got:

- The length of caliper (tip to tip): 280mm
- The width of caliper (front to back): 138mm
- The distance from the rotor to the front of the caliper: 57mm
- The distance from the hub face to the front of the caliper: 34mm
(The point where the wheel touches the hub)
- The distance on the inside of the wheel from where it mounts to the inside edge of the spokes.
(Just after the point where the spoke curves): 41mm
(The inside edge of the wheel to the spoke): 40mm
- Clearance from the spoke to the caliper: 6mm
(Measured from the center of the second “b” in brembo to the spoke).

I used a micrometer to do the measurements except when measuring the size of the caliper.

Here are some photos of my STI with the 17x7 +48 Racing Sparco Tarmacs and Bridgestone 225/45-17 LM22 tires. No spacers needed for brake clearance. They do need hub rings, which came with the wheels.

NORCAL STI, I am awaiting a reply to my PM that I have sent to PHAST M3 (he has a set of GT-N's on his STi). Immediately after I get a reply I will update you everyone on the info I have received.

horrshack, no problem, the first initial list took more than a week to compile and have been adding ever since. I too have been pressing to find weights for each wheel. If you have found any other wheels that you know fit please post them and I will then add them to the list I currently have going.

Again, thanks to everyone that has contributed to helping me compile this list .

Rick,

The weight on the Racing Sparco Tarmacs in 17x7 is 20.5 lbs.

Sorry to say but they will not fit, from what I have heard the 19" SuperLeggera is the smallest size that will fit over the Brembo's as of now .

I can't verify if the TE37 exists in a 18x7.5 +43. I couldn't find them on the Rays site. I can verify the 18x7.5 +48 do exist and DO NOT fit. Sorry, I've tried twice to post the link to the www.i-Club.com site but it didn't work. It's in the Tires & Wheels forum. A guy there (midnightwrx) tried them in the 18x7.5 +48 and they wouldn't work without a 7mm spacer.

Rick, unfortunately another wheel to remove from the list.

Gary,
I actually got the info for the fitment of the Volk TE37's in 18x7.5_ET43 (17 lbs) from Tim @ ImportHookup. Here is the link (I also contacted via PM to confirm): TE37 fitment.... but like you said I too can't find the specs on Rays website . I will take it off the list just to be safe, if they do exist and fit I can always add them later.

Rick

p.s. If anyone finds any other issues let me know, I then will update accordingly.

As I was browsing on Gruppe-S today, I happened to notice it looks as though they took the list I have compiled and incorporated it into there website in the exact same format I made.... Wheel fitment.... obviously only listed the wheel makers they carry. Nevertheless it's nice to see a commercial company is using the info I posted here on NASIOC for there site without even being mentioned or credited (just would have been nice for the time I put in making the list).

Sorry for the rant,
Rick

Rick,

We know who gets the credit. Good job!

Speaking of getting the credit. Mach5WRX over on the i-Club site redirected me back to the Rays site and a much cleaner fitment table then the one I saw. I did a little looking around and noticed they list the Volk SE37K 17x8.5 +50 as fitting the "Brembo caliper of Impreza (GDB)".
http://rayswheels.co.jp/cgi-bin/cgi/...odelName=SE37K

So, you take one off the list, but get to add a new one!

Gary,
Thanks for the props, as well as all your help on making this list longer . I have now added the Volk SE37K = 17x8.5_ET50. Hopefully we will see more wheels come available in the future.

The gruppe-s folks seem to be pretty good guys, I think they would put up a credit if you emailed them.

Face it ami2fst4u......Ur a GOD, and they will bow down to your almighty power or face your wrath!

Honestly, without your post, they couldnt sell any wheels to USDM STi owners!

You should get commision, or at least a finders fee!

Without your assistance and a million fone calls, I would have never known that GramLights would have fit!

Time for the afternoon Nana!

Ordered a set of 4 Silver GramLights 57F 17x7.5 ET 48. (wish they came in Gunmetal)

Not here yet, last I heard 4 weeks on a container ship from Japan!

Unless I wanted express 10 day shipping for an xtra $500!

Per Rays fitment guide, they fit the GC8 Impreza Brembo's. The distributor assured me that they would fit the USDM STi.

Makes sense, since the BBS 17x7.5 are ET 53

Once they arrive via carrier pigeon I will snap some pics and post'm!

Now - what tires?????????

I'm going to try on a set of 57F in the 17"X7.5 this week. I know a place that has them in stock so I will let you know if they fit.
