imo, DIY injector mods are a bad idea unless you like spending money on a new engine. I got my set of flowmatched modified 816cc injectors from Witchhunter for $390 shipped and I can still send in my stockers for a $160 core refund. So in the end it will end up being $230 for the new set of injectors. If that is too expensive for a quality fuel upgrade, well...

as said, im not too knowledgeable about the modding, i just suggested it because it was suggested to me from fuji_k, a pretty smart guy on here that i know personally. he did it for his hybrid build and it's been holding for a good while now in his 12 sec. wagon that started as a regular stock 2.2l impreza outback.

what you said sounds great though. i didnt know it was that cheap.

Pls link me.... I wouldn't mind a set of those and those are a lot more affordable, i was thinking about going with deatschwerks 750s and those would be 299 after the 100 dollar rebate for the stockers... but if i could get 816's for even cheaper.... then that would be great..

His pricing should be much cheaper than purchasing an AP - I believe he normally just charges per hour and perhaps could even quote you a flat rate.
Okay thanks for the info, and i did get a hold of clint... and i am going to have him tune my car But... he told me to meet him at Christina's house. One i have no clue who that is, where they live, or how to get there lol.. also i am going to a brewers game on sat night at 6 so what time is he going to start tuning? I dont think there would be anything nicer than to drive my freshly tuned car down to Milwaukee . Thanks for the info =D

I was thinkin' the same thing. That's a lot of boost - at least for a WRX with a stock turbo. Even though I upgraded to a 16g, I had Jorge tune it to a conservative 18 pounds.

Going beyond that on the stock tubo starts getting out of the efficiency range anyway. And regardless of what turbo your running, going beyond 18psi means your pushing the cylinder pressure and heat to where it starts to take a toll on those stock internals.

Sure, with a good tune you can get away with it for a while - several years probably. But if you want to increase the odds of having anywhere near a "normal" life expectancy out of the engine (I'm talking 100k+ here), conventional wisdom says 18psi is about as far as you want to go.

I guess it all depends on how long you want to wait until you have swap in an STI short block

Almost any upgraded turbo loves 18-20 psi. But the stock WRX turbo.....

Hey Kyle, when we are at Crispy's, can you take a glance at my passenger side door lock? It will not lock (manually or via the remote). I think that it isn't connected properly (you can still hear the lock actuator trying to work).

Goof: Stock TD04 can still do 17-18 though....

interesting to hear... I just like to refer to myself as a "safety girl"

I try to be as smart as possible when it comes to my car in regards to mods.. after owning multiple cars in which I took it so extreme which later caused driveability issues (especially in the case of my past show car) I no longer want to be in that situation again..

Breaking down on the beltline or blowing an engine and having to come up with unexpected large expenses is not my idea of fun.

Subarus are uber reliable and fun.. once you start making your car unpredictable or unreliable is where its downright stupid in my opinion. (Unless you have crazy disposable income and time and like taking it in the arse)

I am on 21psi for the street tune and he started to tune on 26psi for the race tune but, he never got that one finished up.

Also: My motor is back out and on a stand again. Goal is to make it to the shootout this coming year with a fully functioning/well tuned car.

I disagree that 18psi is a magic number that you must not exceed. Peaking at 19-20 psi is perfectly acceptable for the td04 and the efficiency issue all depends on the rpm and how much air flow there is. 20psi at 3krpm is a heck of a lot different than 20psi at 5krpm - way different cfm.

As for the safety issue 20psi is safe on the stock internals provided the rest of the tune is setup for it and you are running the correct fuel (93 octane). EGT's are not an issue on the td04 since it's only going that high very early in the pull for a short time. I have tuned several bug eyes w/ vf39/16g/etc that are capable of holding boost for way longer than the poor little td04 is capable of and they don't magically explode at 20psi.

Well have fun tuning my car to whatever you want. I am not a conservative guy, but I don't want it wreckless either.

I always have fun. And I try very very hard not to be reckless. Imo I am much more conservative than most of the pro/e-tuners in the area where it counts the most - knock and drive-ability.
