Transmission splined shaft alignment
I had some backlash causing noise in the center diff gears on my 2000 2.5L A/T, so I removed the transmission, dis-assembled the diff case and added thrust washers to remove the backlash/noise. (I'm a gear engineer, so that part comes easy) I'm now re-assembling and asking what the best way is to assure alignment with the splined shafts and notched collar, so I dont damage the transmission when I tighten the tranny back up to the engine.
I have the tranny back in position and the small snap ring back in place on the collar already, but the bolts start resisting with about 3/8" left to go. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
