Default Machining the EJ22T for the #5 thrust

Hey guys,

Looking for a good source to send out a virgin EJ22T for some machine work. It will need to get machined for the #5 thrust bearing and so on. Must be a machinist with excellent communication and knowledge of the EJ series. I have been trying to contact our current one with no luck on being reliable.

Chime in and earn our business.

If I had a machine, I'd take ALL them EJ22E's from UPULLRPARTS and make them thrust #5.
I just aint got them machines so I can't do much even though I got the brains.

What the h*** Fuji, I hope you are saving up for one.

Someone has to be doing all the #5's that are out there.

It is almost easier to use a phase 2 block.

Just get a crank that supports Thrust in #3 and don't machine the block. The K1 crank accepts thrust in #3 or #5.

The issue is that we want to use the newer style, black nitride crank for our next build.

I thought the newer cranks were setup to accept #3 and #5 thrust position also. Can anyone confirm?

All phase 2 cranks CAN be machined for thrust on #3 but none of them come machined from the factory AFAIK. I have 2 '08 STI cranks onhand as well as a number of other phase 2 75 mm stroke cranks. None of them are machined for thrust on #3. I have however seen blocks with #3 and #5 machined for thrust from the factory.

Anyway what would be the point of a factory new phase 2 crank machined for two thrust bearings? Does not make sense for Subaru to do that. Phase 1 manufacturing is a decade dead now...

hi,
i'm thinking of building an ej22 phase 1 block with 79mm crankshafts phase 2. As i know that the block have be machined to accept the crankshaft. Do i used both thrust bearing for #3 and #5 for the block? Or i only use the single thrust bearing for #5?

When I built my stroker, I hads the block machined to accept the #5 thrust & ran a dual thrust set up no issues after 6k miles .. put down 363 AWHP w/ an FP Red

RCM in the UK does. A little too far out of the way but when I order up a block from them they offer machining for 175 bucks to convert the block to rear thrust.

We have built a 2.2t with a 2.5 crank. We have the thrust in the stock no 3 position. Used underside bearings and had the crank machined for the no 3 thrust. End play came within spec with no machining needed on the block.

This is a rally 2.35 L running sti heads. We have the 34mm restrictor. So our horsepower is restricted limited.

AJ, I can have my machinist do it. I would also try contacting P&L pretty sure they can offer it as well.

Thanks for the help Junior, I will most likely be sending my block with AJ's if your machinist will do it for a reasonable price.
