How can I make my exhaust look more stealth?
I've got a MRT exhaust including an MRT muffler going on as soon as I get my midpipe lengthened. The total diameter across including the walls of the pipe is about 3.5".
How can I make this look more stealth? I can not afford to get pulled over by the police. Do I need a 3.5" tip or could I get my old tip welded on without restricting flow? I'm also considering just spray painting it black but it's still going to look like a big pipe. |

The visual impact of that tip alone should not cause cops to pull you over. Now if really loud fart noises are coming out of it and you're driving like a madman, you'll get pulled, but that has little to do with the size or your ehaust tip.
The SPT exhaust on my RS has a relatively large tip. I don't seem to get any extra attention from it. Kind of off topic but I'm actually suprised at how little attention my car gets from the cops. It's like they can't see the hood scoop, big open bumper and tall wing. Must be a silverthorne thing. |

I wouldn't worry about it, it'll look like it's stock to the normal person.

I'd guess that any tip at least as large in diameter as the rest of the exhaust system would be sufficient.

i was under the impression that a resonator could be in a muffler or welded into the midpipe or something but i definately don't see anything in my stock tip or in the MRT tip. i'm actually getting a resonator welded into the mid-pipe hopefully today for super-stealth sound.

Dude, no one is gonna bother you with that can. If you want a stealth exhaust, leave it stock.
The only way that tip is gonna cause attention is if you're doing something stupid anyway. Jay Storm www.sourcemotorsports.com |
