Default getting arrested for using tuning sofware...

Yeah... my buddy steve, who drives a 2006 chevy cobalt ss/sc, got pulled over for going 12 over the speed limit... then the cop saw that he had a computer in his car, and was using it to road tune his car...

so that, together with going 12 over was considered "use of exessive speed" which is a crimial offence... he got arrested and everything.

Now, Personally, i think that's a bogus charge... anyone else agree?

*EDIT: it was actually Exhabition of speed*

Now I have never heard of of being pulled over with that before, or getting a charge for it. That is why I don't use those software programmers that need a laptop computer. If I ever go mapping, I guess I will go with an access port, or something that is handheld and can be put away in a glove box when not using/needing it, or something that can at least be hidden. Or, if you need a laptop, do it on a dyno, or in a place and time where there aren't people and less of a chance of getting pulled over.

Stinks for your friend though. Good luck!

was he tuning or running logs, then tuning when he pulled over, because if that was the case i dont see how he could get arrested, i would fight that case as hard as possible

yeah, aparently speeding on purpose for the purposes of tuning a car in public is justification for a criminal offence............. Travis, watch out! haha.

he doesn't tune while driving, he scans while driving, then makes a tune, saves it and does it again.

In california, and i thought in scottsdale, you cant even have a laptop turned on in your car (for various reasons).

Also, I thought in CA that they can take your car for 10+ miles over the limit. Might be different here, but not unheard of.

a cobalt is not a cavalier...thats just ignorant. Just because it replaced that cavalier doesn't make it near the same car...its more opel/saab than anything.

Oh and dont forget that the GM Factory Cobalt destroyed everyone at the Toyo/Super Street Time Attack...a front wheel drive car with a beam axle rear outran Evos and Skylines.
