Finally got some wheels. XXR 527 17x8.25 +35 wrapped in 225/45. Now I need some springs to lower it a touch.

Hello 2 all , one question about wheels. What is the max wide wheel for bugeye to fit 225/40/18 tires without and mods like roll fenders to fit perfectly with no rubs?
For example 18x8 ET35 (I had those and I think It can be wider)

Got some 527s. 17x9.75. Stock height still. Need some suggestions on suspension. Probably won't do coils but will do springs and Koni yellows.

Without Coil overs my friend you will suffer of what i call the Pappi syndrom lol no offense to our hispanic fellow tuners, but the poke looks extremly akward. Also try to not go lower then 35sidewall it makes the wheel look EXTREMELY small ill post pictures later tonight for ya

Hey guys i drive a 2005 wrx lowered on raceland coilovers.
Im looking to buy a set of 531's in 18 x 9.5 +35. Would probably get a 215/40 tire.
what kind of fender work and camber should i expect to make this setup fit and look right?
All help is greatly appreciated!

215s on an 9.5in wide rim? I wouldn't recommend a stretch that big. I'm running 245s on 8.75in rim, pics above (black and gold hatch)

but you'll most likely have to roll you rear fenders but i don't know for sure cause i havent worked on a '05 before but since youre lowered it will give you peace of mind

I have a 2015 Impreza 2.0i on stock suspension height. I want wheels where I don't have to roll/stretch fenders.

Would I be able to accomplish that with XXR 527 18x8.75 et35, planning to use 235/40/18 tires????

Default Rub or no rub, that is the question? =)

I am running 17X9/+42 with 245/40 on the same gen, but my is 2011 WRX (stock suspension) so shocks have more travel than your STI suspension. I have no rubbing at all. I drew out graphically to determine the poke between 17x9/+42 and 18x8.75/+33, they are virtually the same. You have 18in wheels so they are 0.5in closer to your wheel wells compared to my 17s. Do you think that extra 0.5in is what causing you to rub??? (I am assuming you are still on stock suspension from your pics where I don't see any lowering). How much of a gap do you have between the edge of front and rear fender until they touch the Pilot SS tires?

Would appreciate your help to determine if I need to roll fenders and dial more negative camber on stock suspension. If I do, I might as well purchase coilovers if I have to go to alignment shop to fix the camber.

Had to roll the front and rear fenders to keep from rubbing
The front has a 5 mm spacers because the rims only cleared the brembos by 1 mm which didnt sit well with me

The front, notice how close the inside of the brembos come to the rim

rear

This thread has 162 pages. So wondering if 531 18x9.5 +35 will work on stock 04 STi suspension, clear the Brembos, and not need any roll out modification?

Got a chance to get some for free.

Hey DJ, yup I'm on stock suspension. i think the difference is a combination of the 1/2 inch closer to the fender I am with the 18s vs 17s and the fact that i am: (42-(33-5)-6/2) = (your offset - (my offset - my spacer) - quarter inch wider wheel/2) = 11mm more poke in the front than you are and 6mm more poke in the rear (no spaces back there for me).

I havent experienced any rub in the front because the suspension is higher than the rear, and the rear has a much worst lip. I've only experienced rub in extreme conditions i.e. 4 passengers and doing stupid things on back country mountain roads in west virginia

Is that setup on your car now or are you going to be putting it on soon?

I don't think you will need coilovers, If you havent put this setup on your car yet then i would suggest putting them on, and do some tight mid speed corners in a parking lot and listen for rub. If you have rub then a fender roll will get rid of it better than coilovers. I know youre gonna want to eliminate some wheel gap when you go to coilovers (youre not gonna lift your car afterall) and that would exacerbate the problem.

Good luck sir!

Hey, everyone! So I've been looking through this thread FOREVER and I've searched and searched and searched EVERYWHERE for information on the XXR 552s and XXR 969s. I haven't seen anyone rocking these wheels anywhere and I'm really curious to know if anyone on here has these or has seen these wheels before. The 552s are similar to the Enkei RPF1s and the 969s are similar to the Work Emotion CR KAIs. Can anyone help me out with this please? Pictures and input is appreciated!

PS: I'm looking at the XXR 552s mainly in the size of 18x8.5 +36 offset with a tire size of maybe 225/40/18.

I know. But they've been out for a minute though it seemed. However, despite that. I still haven't seen any "real" images of the wheels in natural light. Only images I've found were the display images on the website. It's hard to tell what some of these wheels look like when they have a white backdrop behind them. Haha

Yeah, I like them. They look aggressive, clean, and attention grabbing, but not too flashy. I was looking at 18x8.5 +36 offset. Do you think I'd have to do any fender modifications? I have coilovers but haven't installed them yet because I want to put everything on all at once.

My car is a 2005 WRX.
