Default Gillman Subaru The Big Event 2: Shop Day Registration and info

The Biggest Big Event! You don't want to miss this one!

The shop will be open at 8am on August 21st.

There is so much going on on August 21st we can't list it all here, see the Big Event thread for info on the other stuff happening that day.

Main "Gillman Big Event 2" Thread here: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2020491

If you want to bring your car in and work on it post here so I can add your name to the list. Please give the following information:

1. Name and user-name on forum
2. Car year and model
3. Work to be done

- There will be a required $20 payment to Gillman for using their bays. With this fee you will get two bands and one t-shirt. One band is for you and one for a passenger.

- If you are going to be in the shop you are required to have a band.

- If you are not working on a car, but want to be in the shop you will need to pay $5 for a band.

- No one under 13 will be allowed in the shop area.

- We are doing this to keep the shop area a little less congested for everyone's safety.

- No open toed shoes, flip flops, or sandals.

- There is a 2 hour maximum per car per shop bay. If you run over the 2 hour maximum, you will be charged an additional $20, plan your time accordingly.

- The money collected for working on your car, and entry into the shop will help to offset the additional required safety equipment, and other needs for the day.

If you have questions please let me know and I will answer them to the best of my extent.

With each arm band you will get a raffle ticket and be entered to win some really cool Subaru prizes!

Also please tip the techs for their time, they are coming in on a day off and are not getting paid for this.

As a guide for what you should expect to be able to do at the shop day, things such as downpipe, springs, swaybars, turboback, basic services, interior stuff, shifter bushings, CV joints/boots (we did a few of these last time) should be things you plan on doing at the shop day. Obviously other jobs can be done too, but expect to run over the allotted 2 hours and have to pay the additional $20 for 2 more hours.

If anyone has any questions on how much money you should be prepared to tip for the help of the technicians, please feel free to ask!

There will be 20% off parts and Subaru merchandise for this event! Just contact the parts department for help.

Come on out and have some fun, work on your car and meet some of your fellow Subaru enthusiasts!!!!!

I can almost promise you that The Big Event 2 will be the biggest event yet, and you won't want to miss it!

Thanks,

Sam (samagon) I LOVE POOP

All, please try to be specific about what you plan to do as we would like to be as prepared as possible in the shop.

Additionally, some of the things you may want to do will be too difficult to accomplish at the shop day, lower control arms, clutch swap, rear main seal, these are examples of things that are going to be too difficult to accomplish, so it will be good to know what you want to do so that we can let you know ahead of time that this may be more than we can tackle at the shop day. thanks very much for your understanding!

See the first post for a list of things that are good ideas for the shop day, I've just talked to Amir and he says that timing belts should be okay, but keep in mind that if you run over the 2 hour limit, it will be another $20. and remember the alignment rack is also available, and Ding Lifters will be on site as well!

CAN'T WAIT! I just got off the phone with Scott about getting more goodies to hand out. Anything else that we can do, just let us know!

Not sure yet what we'll be doing yet, but I'm sure we'll find something to work on, so please go a head and put us down for a spot.

I really need a clutch put on my wife's 02 wrx. Would the techs be helping me if I sign up or do I need to ask someone on the forum? I have no problem tipping, I just need the job done right. Im sure its much easier with the car on a lift opposed to in my garage. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm just curious, but why are there three threads, including two which are exactly the same?

And that can't be done in one thread? Considering that over three quarters of the information in the two threads are identical? So go yourself there, jackwad.

Your comment is in the wrong thread.

The main thread is general information and discussion. The car show thread is just that, the shop day thread is, ...see where this is going?

Oh, I get it. I'm just looking at the content of the threads and wondering why they're so repetitive. Because they are.

sorry I missed this earlier, but a clutch job would be too long for the shop day.

I have an idea of something I need to do, but I need to figure out if it'll be feasible for shop day and if I'll have the funds for it right now.

downpipe, springs, swaybars, turboback, basic services, interior stuff, shifter bushings, CV joints/boots (we did a few of these last time), things of that nature are what you want to try to do on the shop day. If you have an older wagon, you can do the roof rail delete in under 2 hours.

On the normal occasion, putting my up-pipe in would be a pretty normal shop day job! But.. well.. damn downpipe bolt.
