Uh $250 is normal. Not sure if that comment is a surprised good or bad? This is the first ever subaru road course day that I've seen here WA, so I'm impressed. Anyone who is slightly interested and hasn't done a performance driver training on a road course, get out there, pay the $399, and learn what it's all about. $399 is a good price! The Ridge is awesome too. A few of us have run it now and it's a blast.

On the fence pending work day off but likely I'll be in for the lapping.

So being new to a track does the 399 for instruction include the track fee or is it just for the coaching?

Yes, that is the total price, it includes the track fee and the instruction.

You only need to do the training once and next time around you can do the lapping day. This is a great price too, we worked hard to get this price it is normally $499!

Registration should be up early next week if not already. If you are a new driver and thinking of doing the school, sign up early as there are very limited slots for new drivers due to the number of instructors required/available.

Price for track time is right in line with Pacific raceway so I'll probably be attending this for lapping and early morning instruction.

As far as the HPDE costs, does seem fairly high IMHO. Especially since BMW PNW club is throwing a HPDE course at the ridge in August for $225.

OP, I'm not trying to thread crap here maybe you can give a little more info into the differences between the two programs?

Start saving, after your HPDE next time it will only cost $249 and qualifies you for other tracks and events.

Hey ya, good question.

I can't or shouldn't speak for the BMW Club if anybody here is a member and have attended these events maybe you could chime in.

I do know to qualify for the HPDE course in August you have to complete their car control course first, this is a seperate day and expense. You have to be a member of the BMW club. They use volunteer instructors that I think are club members, nothing wrong with this they probably have some very good experienced instructors.

For our event there is no previous experience required and we will cover car control. Also, we will have a pretty high instructor/student ratio. The instructors are paid professionals and they will focus on teaching car control and track driving fundamentals with lots of in-car intruction and track time. When you graduate from this school you will understand basic car control and basic track driving fundamentals. This is the perfect platform to build your career on.

Please let me know if you have other questions-thanks and look forward to seeing you!

I've been out of the track day stuff for a long time because of college, but since I'm graduating this month I may get back into it.

Is my SA2000 helmet too old to use now? I've kept it in pristine condition, never dropping it as if it was my baby

Congrats on completing college! Hope to see you out at the track.

Helmets must be manufactured in year 2005 or newer, there are few other requirements. Open or closed face is OK and I hate to say it but they will allow motorcycle helmets.

There will be helmets for sale and for rent at the event.

Thanks much for the honest reply. I personally have gotten a lot of value out of professional instruction in the past and highly recommend it. Its also really important for us lapping folks to know that the newbies have someone in their car watching their mirrors for them!

Provided I can get the time off on the 29th, I'll see you out there!

I plan to come but as I have two days of track time at the Ridge on June 30th and July 1st (weekend) with Hooked on Driving I'll just watch at this event. I can only carry 50 gallons, plus what's in the car, of E85 with me and that will not last three full days.
