Default Had a run-in with the Law...and the law won

So I was getting onto the ol' highway and as I was merging onto traffic I noticed an unmarked white cop car move over so I could get onto the highway. I had been driving around with expired tags that expired in February because of money issues. Well we hit a stop light and sure enough he pulled up behind me. I looked in my rearview mirror and saw him reach down and grab the mic to radio in the stop and I knew I was screwed. I pulled over even before he got a chance to really turn his lights on.

He walks up to the car and before he gets a chance to say anything I say

"I swear I was going to pay those on the first of the month."

I laughs out loud and he says "Ok, well I'll need to see your drivers license...blah blah blah."

Goes back to his car to check to see if I'm wanted by the Man. I wasn't really that pissed because I knew I had screwed up so I decided to view the ticket as a one day extension rather than fine. He comes back and says. "Here is your ticket, try and try and get the tags as soon as you can. Also I would recommend getting that windshield replaced. That crack is big enough to also give out a ticket for."

I told him about the shortage of money as the reason for not renewing.

I said thanks office and told him to be safe. State Patrol was really cool, and it goes to show that if you are not an asshat they will treat you with respect. I knew I was screwed cause it was my fault and so I was nice and polite and in return he was the same way.

CN:Got pulled over for expired tags. Made the Statie laugh and was nice and polite and thus he was polite as well. Moral of the story. Be nice and they will be nice in return.
