Question I need a 3.9 rear. Should I get a nonLSD Legacy diff and swap,or buy a legacy LSD 3.9

I'm piecing together stuff for a 6sp swap and need some advice.

I know I need to have a 3.9 rear end and i want it to have an LSD. But i see a few ways of doing it.

1) Buy a nonLSD legacy diff and swap my LSD into the legacy case.

2) Buy a nonLSD legacy diff and swap the 3.9 ring/pinion into my r160.

3) Buy a legacy diff that has LSD and 3.9 already.

I'm not sure which model years to look for, so I would appreciate some info on that, but also which route would be the better way to go, and if i'm leaving anything out.

Unfortunately a r180 is gonna cost too much.

Also, will an auto driveshaft from any 2000-2004 Impreza work?

thanks.

The LSD that the 3.9 Legacy turbo uses won't work with a WRX. It uses male axle stubs with female splined axles. The Legacy turbo axles won't work in a WRX because they are too narrow. (The WRX track is wider in the rear) Maybe they'll work with a wagon but I'm not 100% sure. The easiest thing to do is buy a non-lsd or lsd 3.9 out of a legacy and put your lsd unit in it.
