Default Hydra question (1st of many)

Is there a special version I need to buy or will the STi or WRX version work? I'm asking because I may buy a used system.

STi has an electronic throttle, so you should buy a specific Hydra for your application.

oops, I meant to say I am using a ej207 v7. It has AVCS but not electronic throttle.

You will need a WRX Hydra if have a WRX chassis and wiring harness regardless of your engine. All of the new Element Hydras are setup with AVCS for the WRX but some of the older ones are not.

You will only need an STI Hydra is you have a DBW STI engine and harness.

Thanks,
Phil

Thanks Phil. How can I tell if it's a new or old one. Can an old one be upgraded? I wish I could afford new, but oh well.

With the serial number I should be able to tell if it has AVCS and what flash version it is. It can be upgraded since it's only adding a few wires to the harness.

Thanks,
Phil
