you guys are acting like i put in straight 100 octane.

the car was tuned for 91. AZ/CA/NV 91 isnt exactly the best 91 octane out there. when i said "occasionally" I really should have said like 3 times a year when it gets really hot, and I just want the added knock resistance of the ~93 octane mix. im sure this still isnt enough of an explanation for some of you, but thats okay. back on topic of funniest phrases/questions

I parked in front of an L&L BBQ to pick up some lunch this afternoon. A man eating at a table outside who saw me park, looked up from his meal and said "that looks like a fun car."

Ah, ok (I should have double-checked your info). That makes a bit more sense and is slightly more worrisome. As you said, still not a huge deal, but I imagine it can get annoying, especially when they're spposed to know about your car to work on it.

That aside... back on topic(ish). More of just a story than a funny story, and not just for Subarus.

I live in Michigan, and recently we've gotten snow on/off. When my car is parked outside, I like to lift up the windshield wipers so they don't freeze to the windshield and get ice/snow buildup on the blades. Also makes it so I can scrape ice off freely when I need to go somewhere instead of fiddling with a frozen wiper before doing so.

Anyway, a friend asks me why I do that when I give him a ride home, so I explain it to him (he wasn't dumb or anything). But he did keep on going on about how he's never seen anyone do that even though it makes sense, commenting that it must be a Subaru owners thing.

Anyone else on here lift their windshield wipers off the glass (to standing position) when they park in the winter? Or am I just a weirdo?

Come up to Canada... it's practically how people wave at each other in parking lots!

All the time, however it's only at the mountain I see it, because it's rarely cold enough in the valley to justify it. But entire parking lots at the resorts.

I do it if I know its going to snow. I did it all the time when I lived in the UP.

We've practically had a plague of this in Edmonton this year. Last year I saw maybe one or two cars do it the whole year. This year, any time there's snow in the forecast half the damn parking lot has their wipers lifted. It's really weird.

Personally, I haven't ever done it except in extreme cases (freezing rain) because it wears out the springs that are responsible for pushing your wipers against the glass. I'm just careful scraping around the wipers and then after five minutes of driving everything is fine.

Oh, and my newest car has front wiper defrosters

I don't raise my windshield wipers because it's not that hard to just lift and drop them once or twice after a heavy snowfall or ice. They really don't collect that much ice, and when it's really bad a simple snap clears them of any ice on them.

and that's coming from a resident of ND

I just spray them with a spray bottle of deicer I keep in my trunk during the winter. Frees them up and quicker than scraping the windows!

So today I got my car tuned, brought my buddy with me. He's into jeep and trucks but he likes the subaru! (Gets giddy when he gets in).

Anyway on the way home he wants me to race everyone. So I see a subaru in my rear view (legacy n/a), him being himself.

Frnd: race his ass!!!
Me: why?
Frnd: it's boosted do a pull and show him up
Me: no, it's not even boosted!
Frnd: yes it is! It's a subaru legacy!
Me: do you see a hood scoop on it?
Frnd: no? Why?
Me: because it doesn't have a turbo, it's n/a.
Frnd: why does it need a scoop?
Me: for the inteercooler?
Frnd: those actually do something for your car?
Me: yes, these actually have a reason to be on there, it's not just for looks like on trucks and cars that have them.

Omg! I laughed so hard, I know it may sound rude but I've explained this to him a thousand times.

Haven't really gotten any crazy questions about my WRX nor my RS when I had it. I only had one person ask me how fast it goes. Thankfully in Indiana we don't have tooo many ********. I actually get a lot of waves from Evo drivers I also get a lot of double takes on my WRX Wagon as people hear it, look at it, look away & then immediately look back because it's a wagon with a hoodscoop.

the other day i was at my buddys house helping him plasti his wheels. a group of about 3 or 4 middle school kids are walking up the street. we were watching them out the window. they stopped and was checking out the car (07 sti swp) they were talking to each other saying "dam this is a nice car" and stuff on that note. my buddy hits his lock button making the hellas chirp once. the kids kinda jumped a lil bit. then got curious and got closer to look at it more and then he hit the panic mode and they flipped and ran up the street.
