Haha, I post this stuff so people can save money! Funny you mention the shift knob. I just had a long discussion on my build thread about the knob and the stock radio... I'm sticking stock until I can find something that looks and feels like it belongs there. I've tried COBB, Perrin and WC Lathe knobs and disliked them all. I keep coming back to stock for the feel and the fact that it's not metal. I really want to try to cover it in Alcantara somehow. That and the eBrake handle |

well, not exactly...
A+ for effort though! He's got: Alcantara - check Red thread - check Carbon fiber - check No exposed metal surface - check Originality - check A look that blends well with the interior? - no so much... |

Wow. This is absolutely awesome. Looking at the finished product is mind-blowing. It looks impossible to achieve such awesome results from a normal guy, but then breaking it down to 1 piece at a time, it actually looks do-able.
Incredible work. |

Alcantara "panel" is the most forgiving in terms of stretch. At best I compare it to wrapping paper which isn't that stretchy at all. Without a steamer, it's going nowhere. Even with the steamer you are limited to maybe 10-15mm of stretch. |

I made that shifter "knob" for kicks one weekend afternoon due to boredom, and it is probably the worst shifter I've ever used lol. Way too light to be effective, and takes too long to get the hand around for 2-4-R shifts.

i agree with everyone that your interior looks amazing. Ive been thinking of doing this for a long time. Maybe with your inspiring diy attitude I will start and tackle the small things first. What kind of steamer is that?

This is easily the cleanest interior I've ever seen. Mad props for the work.

Really awesome job. But please upgrade your head unit, it look aweful in that interior.
Btw, did it help for the rattle in the cabin? |

Otherwise, no rattles so far. I took it for a nice 100 mile drive today with NO issues at. That was worth the cost of the Alcantara itself! Cheers, - Jason |

I got the same car and the pioneer 930bt is actually good. Oem look, gps abd not too flashy. Of course you have to upgrade speaker and tweeter. Question with the alacantra. Does it wear when you put your elbow on it while driving? I always sit my left elbow how the plastic near the window. |

Otherwise I have the same issue with my opposite elbow, I rest my right elbow on the top of the console cover. I've had it wrapped for 10 months now and it still looks brand new! Alcantara is the toughest, easiest to clean, UV protected material out there. If it's good enough for Ferrari, Lambo and Maserati, it's good for my elbows, lol |
