My wife & I had planned on riding the storm out at home. That was until my townhouse started shaking and windows started pulsating. Around 8pm, I ran out towards the clubhouse where I live (which OEM had turned into an emergency shelter), found a sheriff and had him drive me back to get my wife and kid. Spent the rest of the night watching trees go down, the parking lot of meadowlands hospital become one with the hackensack river, and cars disappear under waves of water.
We lost power for close to 2 days, but we had a generator going at the clubhouse and bar. BIG thumbs up to all the restaurants in Secaucus (Bone Fish Grill, Natolis, Todka), who hooked us up with free food! |
