Default z32 caliper bracket measurements.

this thread is for the very very rare few running the 300zxtt calipers on their wrx's. can someone please take some measurements of the bracket and pictures. measurements like thickness of the bracket, distance between the holes, height, and so on.

going out on an even bigger limb here. can i borrow your brackets for a week or 2. i would give you a security deposit of course.

this what i am talking about.

aye, very ancient, but it would bring about a cheaper option than the Subaru FHI Calipers.

I have zero understanding why everyone is so against this idea. I have decided its because the majority of the Subaru community is scared of change. The WRX 4pots are a useless upgrade. Your still left with tiny rotors for a heavy car that can handle very little heat. The Sti upgrade is great, if you have plenty of disposable income and want to be stuck with 17 inch wheels then go for it. The Subaru community seems to be scared of change and/or has never had to make something because it didn't exist. I started with b13 sentra se-rs. We had to get creative. While the Honda boys were buying parts from ricersrus.com we were buying rwd sr manifolds and making them fit fwd engines. Ever heard of the disco potato turbo? Or t2871rs? Your welcome (look up its origins)

I have been talking to Mike Kojima, if your in to motor sports, where around during the sentra se-r golden age, read SCC, or currently read motoiq you'll recognize his name. He agreed it sounds like a sound and marketable product. Lgt rotors, $50 used from a forum, z32 calipers $40x2 if your good at shopping, brackets $200ish <based off my research in the 240sx market. He referred me to Brian at fast brakes, so I'll be in touch with him soon.

Let me know what you find out. I've been seriously considering doing this since I have access to a water jet, and machine tools.

Uhhhhhhhh then go for it! The offset of the calipers is dead nuts the same. Find out of there are people in your area with the rotors and calipers that you could borrow. Or just go buy one of each and return them. I'm sure you are plent qualified to make the rather elementary measuremts to get this done. I am, however, not lol.

front Z32 calipers are more like $70 + $30 core from Autozone. Reman. 2-3 week lead time. Rears are $65 + $45 same lead time.

You won't likely find them in a Pick-n-Pull cuz they get snatched up by everyone from Sentra, VW, Escort, and Contour SVT guys because they are so "neutral" in the measurement from the mounting surface to the center of the pad throat. VERY easy to adapt to almost anything. Heck I even did a set front AND rear on a Spec-Racing Miata V-8 car.

You can "fudge" the core lol. Not condoning this behavior but parts guys typically don't really care, if a caliper is in the box it's good.

My actually had this entire setup, a guy here made a set but I was not happy with how thin they were and was hesitant to install something I didn't trust that controls my life/death. If a set was cnc'd like the ones available for the s chassis that would be a diff story. There is a very large number of racers that prefer their 16 inch wheels because of the plethora of HP tires available in that size and the cheaper price of those tires is also a big factor. Autox guys would be ecstatic to find there is a better option for them than having to settle for the chincy Wrx OE rotors.

Nope. And I regret not tracing them or getting some measurements every day.

So you'd rather have LGT discs than STi discs? So they fit under 16" wheels?

I think the idea is finding a brake set up that is cheaper than Subaru FHI 4-pots, but with better capabilities. Would STi disks work with the Nissan FHI 4-post with brackets? That would be pretty sweet too.

You could make brackets to fit both.

is this caliper identical to the FHI 4 pots? in terms of size, not mounting.

The z32 caliper takes the wider 30mm rotors like the Sti.

Correct, to a point. The TT model caliper is wider and will accept the Sti and lgt rotor. The non turbo model was smaller (I don't recall it's size, iirc it's 26mm)

It's the 90 NA that takes the 26 but that caliper is useless to us.

All this talk and no initiative. The folks talking this up should bitch less about why these aren't being used widely, and make a set or 3 and test it out and show your work.

This is not hard to mock up buy the rotors and calipers and take the measurements, have the bracket made. If you build it they will come...

Now IMO this brake setup is good but it is not a mystery why it is not popular it is not some mental deficiency in the community. Right now there is no easily purchased bracket for it. Also the aluminum caliper is getting rare using the Iron version adds weight. The Brembos are not cheap but they are easy and known quantity. Many running 16s don't need more heat capacity so the 4 pots work fine.

I put together the z32 brakes but ended up selling the kit, 4 pots were cheaper and I didn't need the capacity I just wanted the feel of fixed calipers. I believe the member here that bought my kit loves them.

The "Nissan" grinds off the aluminum caliper very easily...

Do you know what exact measurements are needed to make the bracket? If i get the correct measurements for the spacing of the 4 holes and how far apart they to each up and down I could draw the bracket in Solidworks pretty quick.

Perhaps someone should just fab up a new bracket from scratch, or pay someone else to do it, if there is a market for it.
