Wasn't the all hailed Gran Turismo GT-R34 a porker as well?

I'm just saying I'd personally prefer a lightweight and more tossable Elise/Exige/Cayman. EDIT: Think of it this way- a Mustang GT500 turns respectable lap times on most tracks because of decent handling and mega horsepower. But an Exige S can turn a respectable lap time with a bit more... class? finesse? Yeah- finesse. That's the word. |

my biggest hang up with the whole thing is the fact they used a V6 versus an I6. i think if they had gone with an I6 it would have kept the car with a lot more of it\'s original mystique and would have made it a much more unique vehicle to own.
otherwise, i\'m a big fan, and hope someone gets me one for my b-day my $0.o2 |

Yeah, as I said in my post above (in the edit) I personally prefer a car that turns great times with finesse rather than big HP. In my day to day routine and weekend driving I have no place to exercise 450hp. I would rather a light, tossable sports car over a heavier GT. I'm not saying the GT-R doesn't handle well, it's just not my style. To each his own though.

It also beat the 911 on Laguna Seca. Not as much room as the Ring but even on a tighter course, the GTR's quickness will help. |

Well cars like the Elise/Exige/Cayman should be tossable, since they're considered to be sports cars. But the GT-R is a grand tourer, so it should really only exceed in straight line and comfort for long distant driving. Being fast on the track is a bonus though.
But you are right, GT cars are typically not as tossable as sport cars. |

This car may have the same fate as the NSX. Granted it's cheaper (in theory) and faster, but once you reach that price range, people want something more exotic (read: European). Will people pay this much for a Nissan with all the other options out there? idk, I may end up eating my words. But it took over a decade for the NSX to finally cave in.
Just an idea. |

Priced under $70K?
That is code for $69K. So, on the road here in SoCal that amounts to $76K and throw in a minimum $10K mark up at the dealers for the first 3 months and your looking at just under $90 out the door. Yeah, I'd pay $90K for a Nissan. |

You know, it would be funny if those two cars turned into a similar WRX vs. "Insert similarly priced sports car" argument. z06 owner: Ha! I just pwned your ass on this track. GTR owner: Yeah, but let me know when it rains, mud, snow. |

you people whining for an Elise don't own one. don't wish for something that you'd actually regret -- as much as i dig logging a quick time at the autox i found that i did not much enjoy riding around in my old WRX: coilovers, poly bushings, big sways, noisy, harsh, rattles galore. i'm sure that driving an Elise on the street would grow tiresome similarly.
given the GT-R's streetable intent along with the awesome application of huge brakes, good looks, double wishbones all around, awd, displacement (!), forced induction, and active yaw control/electronics up the hooha, i think this one will be a winner. |
