Yeah that would be Mike Aumick's 08 STi. We were both just at Oscoda Wurtsmiths Airport for the SCCA Great Lakes Divional Auto X.

The ZooLogix show in Kzoo was pretty cool for a first run...put 400+mi on the transmission without issue..

Still haven't found 100 or higher octane unleaded in the Kalamazoo/Portage/Three Rivers area besides Gingerman Raceway @ $8 a gallon.

Anyone know of a race shop/ reputable mechanic in the above area? Not necessarily looking for a dyno, just someone with some skills.

I'd like to see better pics of that color too...

The Duplicolor graphite is pretty cool, its actually made up of mostly "anthricite" flakes, with a health dose of Bronze/Copper, and even some Silver mixed in... it's semi-dynamic as you look close and see different things (doesn't dissappear in pics either)
Usually painted wheels look painted b.c a lot of people don't take the time to do it right. My stock FXT wheels were painted and you can totally tell b.c they look like crap, any wheels I paint tend to look very nice. I spent hours and hours prepping these wheels before I painted them.

I was going to send my wheels to get powder coated, specially when I found a place that sand blast for $10 per wheel, but the pics got me inspired. I'm going to paint them myself and take my time. Any other tips besides take my time?

It is all in the prep to be honest. Take your time and sand out any small imperfections. If there is anything too big you can get wheel filler and fill it in then sand it smooth.

Use light coats of sandable primer and wet sand in between coats. Use light coats of paint esp with the metallic paint. It tends to just start shooting out flakes when it gets to the end of the can, as soon as it starts doing that stop using it. If you keep using it you will get a really rough surface and you can't fix it without pretty much starting over.

Most important thing, let your clear coat dry really really well. I did one coat per day for 3-4 days and let it dry another week before putting them back on the car. Oh and make sure it isn't too humid bc it takes even longer to dry. I painted outside and then brought them in my basement to sit.

She is the master of painting wheels, that is for sure. Just make sure that the tires you want are already mounted, or don't take them to a crappy place to get mounted (like walmart) or they will screw up the lip for sure.

Also, next meet, possibly July 9, thinking about a BBQ/cookout, but not sure where.

Hey I am planning on coming as long as I don't get called into work; as I am on call this weekend. Also I am going to be on Street Tires for this event. Should make our times a bit closer, nothing like close competition
