I have water/methanol injection in a 05 STI I have a question
Would this burn my engine out at 20,000 miles if I used this injection kit all the time on the STI. It spray at 23 psi and damn it's fast. So you recommend that I take it out it's not good for the engine.

Are you asking if water/injection as a daily constant use will kill your engine faster?

If anything I would say it will help it last longer as long as you are tuned for it. it is great for knock resistance.

ummmmm i wouldnt really say it will make your engine last longer. It also puts more strain on your engine.

THink about this way. If you only can run lets say 18psi on pump. Then you throw alky on and you can advance the timing/increase the boost to 23psi. Its going to put more stress on your car.
Now from the other side, if you use it as a tool to get better gas mileage and you run the same amount of boost and timing and use it as a ultra safe percaution then by all means. |

IMO it depends on tune, and what YOU do. The root of the question needs to get to point of why W/A in the first place. If you add W/A to increase power and only tune to add power then yes you will increase wear and due to the nature of adding power (adding stress), accelerate wear...no real way around this whether this or another mod. Now if you look at what dumped fuel is doing (stock & un-tuned) and you look at what the benefit of replacing dumped fuel will do then I say you will ADD life or at least slow down the negative effects of dumped fuel without sacrificing performance = meaning if your not greedy with what you're looking to accomplish then you should see an enhancement in not only performance but in a cleaner combustion chamber burn.

These motors will hold 500whp with no strained parts issues. Broken ringlands are the killer, and they are caused by detonation, not strain from HP. You can break ringlands on the stock turbo at 17PSI and 300whp. ANd a lot of STIs have had spun bearing failures, pull the bearings out and what do you see? Flat spots hammered into them from det. Detonation kills them. Eliminate the det, and you will greatly extend the life of a upgraded turbo subby motor. I ran 22PSI on my 05 STI on the stock turbo, 5 deg more timing, and a leaner a/f. It was tuned in Boston, and I drove it to texas, where it was 107+deg for the first 2 weeks I was there. I had exactly ONE minor det incident during that time. No one on pump gas an 18PSI down here during that week could say that. If you are going to run the same a/f, boost and timing, then alch isnt right for you. You dont need alch to do that without detonation. You just need a good tune, dont use alch as a band-aid for a bad tune (although many people do, especially some "professional" tuners, who take a car they cant seem to eliminate knock on, slap alch on it, gain half of what they should from the alch, then act like gods because they picked up 15whp and eliminated the det ) |

you have utec... why not just make two maps and put an inline switch for the meth. i did and it works great. meth when i want it.

technically, even with zero detonation, the more timing present in each combustion cycle, the rod bearings will experience more compressive and tensile loading. Granted, it's nothing they can't handle, but it's worth noting nonetheless.
