Default What is the best exhaust for the WRX?

I'm in the market for a turbo-back exhaust for a WRX and have been searching for months but haven't found a system that I am 100% satisfies with. I like Turbo XS best because they leave in one cat but give the most HP, but I hate the way the pipe makes a 90 degree turn right before the muffler. Anyone have any better systems or ideas? Thanks

~Joe

The RFL-Ti rear section does not do this. I suggest you check out (if you already haven't) the Turbo Magazine's review of Cat-back's and Turbo-backs and see if that helps you decide.

Asking a question such as this is going to get as many different responses as replies.

There ya go.

My TXS exhaust (downpipe, high flow cat, midpipe, and RFL-Ti) are coming tomorrow so I'll post impressions once they are installed.

APS. 1 high flow cat. Ecu-Tek tune. 14.7psi. +40whp +50wtq. Iron bell mouth section. Quiet. Fits like STi. Expensive. But you asked for the best. TXS, no better value. Tough choice. Really. Good luck.

I thought Turbo magazine only tested catbacks in that article. Here is a link from their website : http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/02...ust/index.html

I haven't seen a turboback shootout from them. Unless somebody else has info??

Default Best WRX Exhaust

What about doing a combo of the Turbo XS downpipe and the HKS catback, cuz that makes the most power? Will they fit together? Thanks

Don't quote me on this, but I remember reading somewhere that the TurboMag shootout only quote HP & TQ numbers at their highest point as opposed to throughout the entire rev range. The HKS may make the highest peak gains, but only at a specific RPM. I just got the Fujitsubo & Cusco combo. It's simply amazing. Life is full of tough desicions.... Good luck.

The Turbo Magazine "Turbo-back" shootout showed a dyno plot of each system tested. A TurboXS UTEC was also installed to illiminate the stock ECU from playing tricks with the timing to alter the test results.

The Kakimoto system had the largest overal increase (used with an unknown downpipe)... If i remember correctly there were 11 systems tested.

I have the MRT turbo back exhaust as well as the MRT uppipe and I love it. Expensive but well worth every penny. I have yet to dyno my car, I am gonna do that when they put the VF30 in and the rest of the goodies. But the MRT has a nice low grumble and fairly quiet.

I have a BPM exhaust, and it is by far the WORST exhaust ever. I had it a year before it started rusting like crazy, the exhaust hangers BROKE off, and the fact that the company is in Australia and the will never respond to e-mails or phone calls.

I like the fact the Turbo XS has a warranty, so that will be my next exhaust.

not another one of these threads...

What does best equal in your eyes? Most horsepower period....most horsepower but not so loud...etc....

You need to state what your objectives are, ie. do you want a full system, what is your price range, do you want a 3 inch system or 2.5 inch system, do you already have a muffler and only want the down/mid sections, what sound do you want....where do you live (tuning etc)

Their are so many choices, please people...before you start asking what is the best...state what your requirements are!!!!

And it does no good for people to come on hear and say: "Love my MRT turboback, great sound, nice low burble," cause that's all your gonna get. For the love of god, go to your regional subaru club and find out when the next meet is....then listen to what other people have, and then go from there.

Here is a helpful review of my exhaust: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=385836

Scoobysport. You won't be dissapointed.

Bellmouth, leaves third cat, and you can even keep the oem section between the cat and muffler and just get the downpipe and muffler.
